Encounter some decorated eggs in the Museum's displays and a public demonstration of découpage technique on eggs at the Museum run by the Oxford Polish Association during the Easter school holidays in 2022.
Description of the video and included text:
Egg Decorating at the Pitt Rivers Museum with the Oxford Polish Association.
View of a display of eggs: You can find different examples of decorated eggs on the First Floor of the Museum, including painted and dyed eggs with lots of designs.
In this demonstration, eggs are being decorated using a découpage technique, layering printed tissue designs onto the surface of the egg in a new pattern.
The film shows an artist pasting butterflies and flower motifs onto an egg.
Looking good: a completed egg hangs to dry, slowly spinning.
Close up views of different people also decorating eggs with motifs of chicks and flowers.
We also had smaller eggs for visitors to decorate on the day, shown by three eggs on sticks with glitter rabbit shapes and felt tip pen.
Thank you to everyone who came along and decorated an egg!
And many thanks to the Oxford Polish Association members!
This was a Play! Project event at the Pitt Rivers Museum.
