Thanks for the guide! I've seen people play SW in high elo, but I honestly had no idea how they were doing it. I'll try out some of the tips from this video, and maybe I can bring her out when we have a good Magneto on the team :)

Thanks for watching! I play her as my default choice, but will then change based on team need or if I run into some hard counters. A good spider man or namor can be tough for me, or other ranged DPS when our tanks aren't closing in on space, so I have several fallbacks that I enjoy going to. along with your general rule of thumb i have two too 1.) make sure you ALWAYS have all four of your chthonian burst before you go for picks and 2.) make sure you ALWAYS have 2 charges of your fade before initiating all of these should be common knowledge for seasoned wanda players but for the people who are new to her or wanting to play her also keep track of your fade cooldown

Yep, have 4 burst when going for a pick usually makes them very easy to get

I remember when people complained about her being OP, then found out her weaknesses. Now, she's too vulnerable. The new Schick is 3 supports. Once this is dissolved, a new issue will stand up .

You need to check out p2mg. He's a SW player and I actually think he's the #1. Bray, Zaming, Steve, Lippy, CherryColaFPS and ShartCandy are all KZbin players that have done well with SW. There's a lot to be learned by watching them play her.

@@felipechaves9341 Yeah I tried to find as many YT players as possible to learn from. There are more I'm sure. I think I've got most of SW fundamentals down now and have been doing really well with her. I'm about to make it to Plat3 as a solo q player but I'll be teaming up once I get out of gold. The SW hate/flame is already starting and it just gets worse the higher you go.

Wanda is my main duelist(im a vanguard/strategist main), people get so pressed seeing her until i secure mvp regularly with 35+ elims. She has blatant weaknesses some other better dps dont have but I feel the 2 escapes, autolock drain, decent burst and countering support ults make up for it especially if you make a mental note of your own teams cooldowns, which is easy because the things you need to pay attention to as wanda are far less than other skill expressive characters

Yep. She doesn't have a super high skill ceiling, just need a bit of strategy, discipline in when to make a move, and be quick on the phase

@ what you covered from what I remember is pretty much what every new Wanda main needs to hear so great job on that. For me I always try to play close to the tanks of course for that extra protection and then I’ll phase into the air and apply pressure for the few moments I’m up there. Or I’ll take high ground on an off angle and apply pressure there giving them more than one direction to focus on. When they play Strange and Magneto I try my best to get high enough to where I can deal dmg even with their shields up. If they run spider man, BP, or iron fist I usually just stay with the supports as I don’t need to worry about my aim since you don’t really need to aim with her. It forces them to retreat faster and possibly keep the supports alive. That’s just my play style though. What you covered was pretty much everything

Im pretty sure this is a bug, because only he can do it, and it only happens if he webs you right after you phase (at least my observation) Hope they fix this soon. It's very annoying.

Yeah this is the absolute worst!!! I don't think it's a bug but it might be. From what I can tell lingering status effects that are applied before the fade is active will persist throughout the fade. Examples: Adam Warlock - Soul Bond Mantis - Heal and Buff Luna - Share the Stage Vemon - Leash SpiderMan - Web There might be more.

@@gilbert3579 Could be an oversight? I think the phase should totally get rid of all attached / negative effects, but at the very least, those effects shouldn't cause the phase to unphase once they tick/hit

you should note that characters can cancel your phase or kill you before your phase because it has a start up time, but for example Spider Man can cancel you out of your phase very easily

Its not because the phase has a startup time, because the phase is instant. Its from attacks that have 2 parts to them. If spider man webs you, then you phase, his punch will hit you even though it shouldn't, and take you out of the phase even though it shouldn't. Fairly positive it's a bug, as no other damage is able to hit you phased, including ults that you are standing right in.

@ProwlRivals actually the phase isn't instant, it's just a small start up time to the point that it's PRETTY MUCH instant but you can press the button and die before the phase fully goes off, there's observable experiments you can do to test it, but the part about 2 part attacks being a possible bug may be valid, I'm not sure at all

I haven’t gotten through the whole video yet but I just want to say I think people write her off because her ult is vulnerable but if you know what you’re doing, time it well, and have good supports it can be the best ult. They had to make it vulnerable to balance being able to wipe an entire team in 5 seconds.

Yes, but I still think it's too vulnerable. Every stun in the game can stop it, it is broadcasted very visibly so everyone knows where it is coming from, its slow to go off, so its easy to just move away from, and you get no extra health or anything. Too many vulnerabilities compared to other offensive ults.

This is all fine and well, but I think the most pertinent question that you didn't answer in the video is as to *Why* should we play Scarlet Witch at GM? You mention she's close to A tier, but for what reasons? What advantages does she actually have over other characters? Why is she worth a dps slot on my team when I could have a Namor, Punisher, Moon Knight or Hela or something instead? I don't think you really addressed the reasoning for people putting her in low tiers other than just saying that she's being played wrong.

Thanks for the comment. I think maybe I indirectly answered this, but should have here, or maybe should in a future video answer it more directly. It revolves around her being that "battlefield sniper", and how in doing so, she can act like a much different type of dive character that can't be dealt with in all the same ways that other dives can. I think I showed some examples of this in the gameplay footage, and admittedly I'm not the most skilled player, so a player with a bit more skill, or even myself as I get more acclimated to this style of game can do better. When teams are engaged in a fight, she is GREAT at finding value, at knocking down that first important domino that leads to a team wipe... which can often lead to other DPS or tanks getting more kills than her, but she can easily start the whole thing. She has the ability to maintain constant damage within a larger fight with the tanks, and then suddenly and unexpectedly shift into phase state, fly above the enemy strategists, and pick 1 or multiple off. She gets to attack from above, which is an instant advantage over other dives and different from what strategists are used to seeing. She has solid DPS output with her 4 bursts, and then her primary attack is GREAT at finishing off a fleeing enemy, especially in moments where they try to hide behind other hero's, you're able to keep those last hits on the strategist to finish them off. Other hero's have a hard time doing this. On top of that, she is GREAT at getting out of danger. 1 phase and you are back with your team, so she can keep the death count low if you don't over-extend. She is also GREAT at picking off enemy DPS. I can get above or out of LOS of a moon knight, iron man, storm, starlord, hela, etc very easily, get the first couple hits in, then finish with my primary attack and they have no way out. She does come with her weaknesses too, so she isn't for every compostition. Namor's make it VERY hard to dive with her. Teams that have a tank dif, and are able to keep the front line so far forward that the DPS and strategists are further back can be difficult. Storms and other DPS that play from a very far back distance can be tough too... so in those situations I very often do switch off of her. Hopefully this starts to help explain it? Let me know. Once I have a clear goal of a follow up video, I'll do one with maybe more specific examples.

I think she goes well against triple support comps so long as your team is aggressive enough to supply sufficient pressure. Being able to secure those kills before they can get healed and she kinda thrives when fighting backline heroes(as described in the video). Furthermore her ult is actually sneaky good against triple support comps, especially if your team has Magneto (which they often should in this meta) with the bubble combo.

Yep good callout. Triple support definitely has some good counters, and SW fits well within that.

Almost all of gm games are 40+ mins due to triple support meta with each healers heeling like 100k and it's basically a mirror match when wolvi is banned. (Luna mantis loki). But the beauty of rivals community is to play and adapt around everything. So we got a rise in Bucky users more because of this. Bucky had the same treatment as witch and peni, theoretically Good in only low elo. Witch and peni can nuke through support ults and also play like pseudo divers. Also there are some matches where witch is banned because of mags like hulk bans.

@@mrstrange1062 Yep! I'm a very anti-meta player in how I think, so rather than play triple healer myself, I rather counter it. I like 1 tank 3 DPS into triple healer, heck 0 tank 4 DPS could even work honestly, especially if you run wolv or bucky as one of the DPS to be a tank killer.

Yep, I constantly dominate storms as long as the other team is so dominant i can't get close to her. Other DPS are normally easy to kill too with the exception of namor when my team isn't quick on the squids, or a really good Hela or Spiderman.

I have played with her some, but she is one I want to learn better. I'm brand new to hero shooters, so I'm trying to learn everyones roles and play to understand them and be somewhat effective with them, then the ones I feel like I connect with, or fill a team role that I don't have a good hero for yet, I add them to my frequently played list. Right now I try to main between Storm or Scarlet Witch, but I'm comfortable with and frequently use Wolverine, Moonknight, Namor, Punisher, Venom, Thor, Luna, and Invisible Woman. There are a few others I can do decent with too. Currently trying to learn bucky to fill that tank peeler need when wolverine doesn't work, and I need a good DPS diver like psylock for when playing a tank like Venom doesn't fit the roster.

As a Witch, I will never use my Ult with a peni around, it's pretty much useless. If she's dead, or far away/distracted I MAY try to sneak it around a corner. I think Witch should probably be CC immune or something while casting it, but still able to die, so it would be on the healers or a magneto or something to keep her up

The hardest part about playing SW in ranked, is the toxicity you get from your team especially the higher rank you go. Too many players in this game are way too fixated on all those tier lists and 2-2-2 team comp. Anything out of these norms, to them is a throw, even before the game started. 🤷🏻

If you can play her well enough to contribute to the team, then 100% ignore it. Don't let uninformed players dictate how you play. I get it some too, and I'll tell people on comms something like "I'm pretty good with SW, but if she isn't working out, I'll switch to (name hero here)" and most people are all good from there. Also, always be willing to switch off if your hero isn't working in a fight. There are a few scenario's SW doesn't play good into... so having a couple good backups is a must, for any hero.

Is it possible that scarlet is a bully for tanks? I haven't tested it yet but she does do 6 + .3% max health in .1 seconds.

A bully? I wouldn't go that far, but she does OK against them. The burst damage is solid, the primary attack is annoying, and the phases can usually keep you out of reach. So she can go 1v1 with a tank and hold her own OK, but I'd still give the overall advantage to the tank there on average. She does do a good job at adding to damage to tanks on the front lines, and in those larger skirmishes when tanks sometimes start to get a little weak, she can definitely put out enough damage to get them down before healing can catch back up... or phase up over top of the enemy tanks and back a bit towards the healers, and put out really quick, solid damage to disrupt the whole fight, and either pick the healer, or cause the tanks to stop getting heals.

Not really at range no. A lot of the time, you are right there with your tanks putting out constant damage. When you see a squishy within 1 phase range of you, phase to them from above, single them out and go for the kill, and phase back behind your tanks once you kill them, or you take too much damage. It works incredibly well!
