Singing is actually very important. I have created many basslines by singing them first, often away from the instrument. In fact, I practice this all the time.

Thanks so much Mark! This is something I've never really done until recently. I've been playing a lot of fretless bass and really trying to work on intonation. Singing lines does really help. Thanks for sharing, and feel better!
