Play everything on the ROG. best purchase I've ever made. Can run every game (including mega modded F4 544mods( (Something like 253plugin/291lite)) I run wow on graphics 3 in performance mode for 2-3 hours w/o charger When I'm inside I use the 30w mode graphics card on can run wow on setting 10 no issues. If you can't run wow on Max not sure what you did different but my games fine no lag/tear

I suggest looking op this sofrware "Lossless scaling" It can implment FSR and frame gen in games that dont have it. With it im running BG3 at 60 fps on my ally. Usually it only gets around 30 fps.

Got mine 2 months ago and playing on it is so comfy, finished Doom Eternal on it and it was incredible. My only nitpick is that they dont give you 1tb but just 500gb.. I'll buy a ssd in the future but installing it would void the warranty so i have to wait.

Looks like a great little machine. Really enjoyed your commentary on it. Will look for that because i have an old alienware and quite frankly its super heavy for carrying around in my bag this seems like a better choice for me.

That was my exact same issue. I have a 7 year old ASUS Predator laptop, and it just makes too much noise nowadays… this little device has worked great so far 🙂 I do wanna mention though, that I learned that some of the devices are notorious for “malfunctioning”. I haven’t personally experienced that yet though 🙂

I’ve been using an Xbox Controller since the first apple silicone Mac Released, started with just a regular one and have been using an Elite controller now for a few years, it works surprisingly well, have done keystone master/hero, raids and Solo Shuffle pretty successfully in my time using it. The only downside is with the most recent update they came out with a while back I lost the ability to remap the paddles, which sucked but I have adjusted. I do go through them more than I like as the shoulder buttons tend to wear out fairly quickly, which is annoying.

I´ve been playing WoW on Steamdeck for a while now. It´s great for questing and it´s also totally okay to play mythic dungeons with it or go raiding. I´ve seen people doing arena´s too but this requires some skill lol

The devices gamepad is amazing for casual gameplay. 🙂 But for +10s you wanna use a mouse a keyboard… Which you can easily hook that up to it as well. So as long as you are okay with bringing a mouse and keyboard with you On-The-Go as well, it is great as a “small portable laptop”. 🙂

for controller i'd use that one addon that tells you which spell to press even with mouse and keyboard i use it because of how random the gameplay has gotten with all those annoying procs.

Finally, these handheld pc are fantastic. For Wow and related to your feedback, what are the best classes to play ? Evoker seems ok? But healer or Tank, possible also ?

Healer is a bit more problematic, since it requires targeting or mouse over, on your party’s nameplates. I have yet to solve that issue. But tanking and dps I don’t imagine being an issue. 🙂 Class wise, I think any class can play well, as long as you don’t need to do any “precise CC”, like placing things on the ground. You CAN still do it, but it takes a few seconds to place them in the correct spot on the ground 🙂

Console port has always been buggy as hell for me. Every single time I've tried to use it theres always something broken with it that prevents me from using it. Wish Blizzard would get their crap together and just make controller mapping native already that actually looks as good as Console Port.

The steam deck is great but if you like modding and use a pc I’d suggest a rog ally. If you’re gonna play games in your steam library get a deck

Yes. I keep a Bluetooth mouse and mini keyboard in my Ally case. You can also use a dock and send video to full size monitor too. My Dell USB-C dock works perfectly.

Playing in handheld mode, is not the same as sitting on a full on PC. And it is clearly noticeable when using it. However, that is mostly because of gamepad. You can easily do instanced PvP and PvE content, but it takes a bit of getting used to, with the coordination of the modifiers. 🙂 Once you overcome that though, it is an extremely smooth experience, to sit on the couch, while chilling under a blanket. Also, the device isn't at all heavy, even though it looks like it. And the screen is large enough, so that you can easily see everything going on. So mostly, it is the "gamepad" that's the obstacle at the beginning.

Did you actually try pvp (bg’s and solo shuffle for example)? And if so, how did it go? I imagine it would feel like an arcade game when playing a warrior for example

I have played plenty of BG Blitz as Hunter, Druid, and Evoker (and once as Paladin), and those larger scale PvP gamemodes are completely doable with the device. 🙂 However when it comes to more... "accurate gameplay" type gamemodes like Arena or Solo Shuffle, I haven't even attempted those, since the device is a bit too "console" for that... And I know it would feel frustrating, with trying to use spells on allies as well to assist them. A good comparison, is to imagine playing a shooter game with a mouse, vs a gamepad... While you CAN do it on a gamepad, it of course won't compare to a mouse. 🙂 However that being said, if you plan on wanting to play WoW on the go, then a wireless mouse is completely usable with the device, and will make it feel 100% like playing on a laptop. 🙂

You can definitely play BGs and have a lot of fun. I mainly use controller on PC for a more immersive experience while questing on alts. Its tough playing arena however cause it mainly relies on fast resctions etc.

You can use up to 50 spells, using modifiers. 🙂 And I believe DHs no longer are as simple as they were before the rework, since they now have much more buttons to press. 😉 Dev Evoker has become "the new 2 button spec" hehe.

I play my hunter, rogue and prot paladin with an Xbox controller on my PC. It's more than doable. I find it really comfortable and preferable. I just switch to mouse and keyboard to heal on my shaman.

If you mean my desktop PC, then no, the ASUS device does not draw power or anything from it. It is only my capture card, that is plugged into my PC so I can record the screen of the ASUS device, which is a completely separate device. 👍 You can compare the ASUS ROG ALLY EXACTLY to how it is to play on a laptop. 🙂 Just like how a laptop require the charger to be plugged in, to give better performance while gaming, the ASUS ROG ALLY does as well. So you can easily play WoW without it being plugged into a power supply (charger), since WoW isn't that demanding of a game. But if you want to play other newer AAA games, like Elden Ring, you HAVE to plug it into a charger, to get decent frames, since they are a lot more demanding games. And just so I mention this, it isn't "ALL games it can play", since it IS just a handheld PC hehe. So it doesn't compare to a desktop PC of course. 😊 But you can use Elden Ring and GTA5 footage I recorded as a reference, to how well it performs on old and newer games.

@@amesajr2 For that, the device will be incredible. 🙂 I just wanna mention one thing, that you might want to know, since you say you wanna use it "on the go"... The ASUS ROG ALLY uses A LOT of battery, depending on which games you play. So a fully charged device, might last 1.5 hours on the battery life alone. So it might last you 1-3 hours with JUST the battery. Again, depending what you use it for. Which means that you will need a power socket, if you wanna game for longer than that. 🙂 But if you have a power socket available near you, then you can play all you want, without worrying about battery. There is also the Steamdeck as an alternative, which might be worth looking into. 🙂 Steamdeck is known for lasting a bit longer on battery life alone. However... Just know that the Steamdeck isn't as good in performance, as the ASUS ROG ALLY, and it runs on Linux... Meaning in order to install Battlenet, you need to do a "workaround". So between the two devices, it's a matter of "do you want FPS" or "battery life" hehe. 😊 ALSO... hehe... There are 2 version of the ASUS ROG ALLY 👈 The "ASUS ROG ALLY"... and the "ASUS ROG ALLY Z1 Extreme". The Z1 Extreme edition has a better CPU, and gives you better performance by a small margin, but is also more expensive. So I'd recommend looking up a few videos, comparing the two, in case you want a ASUS device. 🙂

I believe you can’t create a macro like that. At most you can cast it at your cursor location using a macro. Or an alternative to this device specifically, is that you can tap the screen, where you wanna throw the trap. But it’s a weird workaround hehe. 🙂

I did use both in this video… not just the mouse and keyboard? 🙂 The reason I also used the mouse and keyboard, was to demonstrate that the device COULD be used stationary as well, and because I needed it hooked up to me PC, in order to record using OBS.
