I still have my Sheraton I bought back in 2014. I bought my dream guitar which was a 2016 Gibson ES-335 satin cherry finish. I sold it less than a year later. My Sheraton stays in tune and is rock solid. If I pick it up after a couple weeks of not playing it I'm quickly reminded why I've kept it. I have a 150th Anniversary Sheraton coming in tomorrow. Sheratons are great guitars and a worthy addition to a collection. If only Epiphone would ditch the anorexic neck.

Found a wonderful white one of these from 89 with original case at Sweetwater. Very reasonable price (half what people on Reverb want) and we use it for everything. I’m lucky enough to have a pretty big American guitar collection of much more expensive instruments and this keeps up with almost all of them.

I have a 2008 Sheraton II (not pro) and its an amazing guitar. I got it from a guy who used to play in Taking Back Sunday and he had been using the stock pickups and electronics, which I found to be a little lackluster so I swapped them out for Duncans and now its a monster. I’m not sure what the neck measurements are on mine but I feel like its slightly thicker than this one. Such great guitars especially at the price.

I like my 2019 Sheraton 2 Pro a lot but it is heavy, about 9 lbs, and has a tendency to “head dive”. Solution was to get a cotton guitar strap which slips less than poly straps. BTW: I noticed Epiphone was using the same pickups in their mid-priced LPs.
@billdehey1300 Жыл бұрын
I think I like the looks of the yellow Sheraton better than the pro II. I've never used a differential bridge but it looks sharp. The mini humbuckers did sound pretty good too and I'm not usually a fan of them (rather I usually prefer humbuckers) Both of them are on the heavier side.

Thanks for the review and cool playing. I’ve had this guitar for years and have a lot of miles on it. Very nice guitar, especially for the price. Great sound to it and very versatile with the coil splits. I’ve got an Epi LP with the same pickups and the Sheraton sounds better. The middle position with the neck split gives a very useful sound. Lays on your lap nice when just sitting and playing. Not without issues however…. Like all Epis I’ve owned it did require a fair amount of work to dial in. Pickup switch needed replacing quickly. Nut needed cutting. But then I’m very picky with setup so might be ok out of the box for most. There is neck dive and mine feels a bit heavy. The neck feels small. Both relatively thin and narrow but that’s a personal taste thing. Overall however I think it’s a very good guitar especially for the price.

Love my Pro II but have to say the exact same thing happened to me when I pulled the split control knob, it came off! Seems Epiphone have a little problem with their knobs but it wouldn't put me off this beautiful guitar.
@samguido9589 Жыл бұрын
Easy fix. Take the knob off, and put a flat screwdriver in the post slot. Just a very little wiggle of the screwdriver will slightly widen the post and the knob will stay put.

Just got mine after much research. Frets were really rough and action was high. Had my luthier set it up and sound better than our 335 with SD antiquies. Playability was perfect and neck felt awesome. This thing covers all music genre. Pickups have alot of gain. I guess i can get rid of a bunch of others. The new PRS 594 has a too thick neck. I have a 2021 Sheraton Pro II. Love it. I also have a 1999, Epiphone Lucille. It sounds a little muddy. How do you rate the Epiphone Dot and which pickups are in the Dot verses the Sheraton Pro II. Which of the two has more head room and clean tones.
@user-xd7rc9mj3x8 ай бұрын
What a well done demonstration. My only critique is that some humor or other entertainment element gets added to these. The Sheraton II Pro should be part of any guitar collection. It out-Les Pauls a Les Paul, and out strats a Stratocaster with better sound all around. For example, neck coil split provides a beefier clean than the strat neck pickup.

@ollie_kdc8915 Жыл бұрын
Your JB 335 has Gibson Burst Bucker pickups in it? They’re just a PAF style pickup, like a Pearly Gates.. it’d be a waste of time and money, you’d hardly hear a difference. You’d be better off getting rid of the Epiphone bridge and putting a Gotoh one in.

I have two Epiphone Les Pauls: A Standard 50s and a Joe Bonamassa Lazarus. I exchanged the Probuckers of the Standard with Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers. It's a huge improvement! Much more clarity and dynamics. The Lazarus has now the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in it. They sound VERY similar to the Seth Lovers, but are more expensive. Here are my PU readings: Seth Lover Neck 7.18 kOhm, Pearly Gates Neck 7.08 kOhm, Seth Lover Bridge 7.68 kOhm, Pearly Gates Bridge 7.64 kOhm. So there's only a slight difference in the output. Compared to the Burstbucker 2 and 3 (8.09 kOhm Neck, 8.25 kOhm Bridge) the SDs sound more mellow and softer. I like that more and it should be good especially for a semiacoustic guitar. BTW the Burstbuckers are now mounted to an Epiphone SG 60s Standard, which again is an amazing improvement over the original Probucker PUs. Hope that helps you and best regards.
@bluesrocker91 Жыл бұрын
Beware if buying a used one... I ordered one new in about 2017 and found it had issues with poorly finished frets and also one fret lifting from the fretboard slightly. It seems Epiphone have remedied the major QA issues since then, but if you're in the market for a used Sheraton II, I would go for a post-2020 model if you can, or at least be sure to try it out first.
@braddietzmusic24297 ай бұрын
I felt all three pickup selections were a bit muddy and missing some top end detail on the clean tone portion. I feel the pickups were not relaying the nice and acoustic snap inherent in the instrument. Mine was too. I upgraded my pickups and not only did each pickup position sound much better, the tones were more useful, and even the acoustic character came out better.
@larsfocken3456 Жыл бұрын
I don't really understand why you reduce the score of the sound because of the coil split option. If the humbucker mode sounds as good or better as the ES-335 then everything is fine. The coil split is just an additional feature. Would your score be better without this option? Thanks for your videos anyway, they are really interesting 🙂
@PlayandTradeGuitars Жыл бұрын
I'd put it this way - I'm not crazy about the sound of split humbuckers, I don't think they sound very good. So while it's an additional feature, if someone bought it thinking they were going to get great single coil sounds, the additional features actually detracts rather than adds to the score, since many people might choose it specially for this extra feature. That said, if someone likes the sound then go for it, just not for me. Thanks for watching!

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 🎸 Epiphone Sheraton Pro II is a best-selling semi-hollow guitar priced at $749 USD. 📦 Out of the box, it doesn't come with a gig bag or hard shell case, but it offers distinctive features like a pow feral fretboard and a Tree of Life inlay. 🎶 It features two Epiphone ProBucker humbuckers with a coil-splitting option for versatile tones. ⚙️ The guitar has a slim tapered neck made of a five-piece Maple and walnut combination, offering comfortable playability. 🛠️ Setup adjustments may be needed out of the box, but experimenting with action preferences is encouraged. ⚖️ Weighing at 8.5 pounds, it offers a good balance between quality and affordability for those looking to venture into semi-hollow guitars. 🔊 The guitar produces a distinctive semi-acoustic sound, suitable for both plugged and unplugged play. 🔍 Overall, it's praised for its playability, sound quality, and value, scoring solidly in the eights across the board in a comprehensive review.
