Went to a few Jazz schools/ regular music schools for 10 years between Berklee, Boys Harbor E. Harlem, New School NYC, and Julliard to become a computer science teacher in Japan lol, love this though it brings back memories when I was studying Big Band Arranging and playing back in the US in small clubs for peanuts.

@@rawkingpronto Practice a lot and audition. When I was there in the 90's they would have a list of songs for you to play and try to find out what it is through someone who went through the process. I am not sure how they grade now, but when I was there I got all 7s on my score, for sight reading, performance, soloing, and the last one I forgot. The is the best adive I can give you for now. "Modern Jazz" was a term that started being used in the 60's. I didn't know what it was supposed to be and I still don't, today. I do know that I love all jazz that moves me and that I can dance to. This is what I love, in any form.
