I cried so hard when I first listened to this song. Even now I cry so hard. This whole song is what I need to hear but sometimes don't want to. "How did we get here? We're cast away on a lonely shore. I can see In your eyes dear, Its hard to take for a moment more." This is one of the many parts in this song that just speaks directly to me. When I hear this I feel that God is telling me that He knows my pain. That He knows my suffering. This is SUCH a great reminder that He knows what I am going through. For anyone listening to this song and reading this comment I want you to know that God knows your pain. God knows your sorrow, guilt, regret, fear, anger, depression, grief, lust, and many other things . God loves you even with all of that. In this song He is saying to LET GO of your past. He is saying to "Burn the Ships" And give it all to Him. I want you to know that whatever challenges you face that you WILL get through it!! I love you SO SO much and so does He!!!! I had the great I idea of making my girlfriend a ring for Christmas instead of buying one to symbolize how much she meant to me. Right before I was able to finish it though, she broke up with me. I really lost all hope for Christmas and was very upset because I even ditched God for her. I couldn’t stand myself because I felt that I turned everyone away for this one girl in my life. I was so sorry and asked God to come back into my life but it didn’t feel like he was coming back. I kept on holding onto things that reminded me of her like jewelry and music. God came to me and finally told me that if I want him to move in my life I have to let go of the past because if I don’t I’m living in the past which leaves no room for God to work. He brought me to this song and I listened to it on the start of a new decade 2020 and what better way to say goodbye to the past and my recent heartbreak. Thank You Jesus ✝️

This song really hit me earlier today. I've been struggling with anger issues, setting unrealistic expectations for myself to live the 'perfect Christian life', and even a porn addiction for years. I attended my church's Celebrate Recovery program for the first time today, and it felt like my eyes were really opened for the first time. I realized I was trying to fight these things on my own instead of asking God to help me, and that I need to admit my own limits and give it all to Him. And as I was driving home, this song came on the radio. Hopefully, after all this time, I'll be able to burn these ships in my life and move towards the future God has planned for me. This song has such a special place in my heart ❤. I don't even know how to put into words how I was feeling the first time I heard this song, except my heart was happy and dad at the same time. The Lord has told me that a specific season in my life was over once and for all. I was living in sin that was so hard to walk away from, because I had to leave someone that I loved very much behind. I was speaking to one of the sisters at my church about the battles in her life at the moment, as we left the alter, the Lord spoke to me that my the season was over and that I was only in it as long as I was to help the sister I just spoke with and another. On the way home in our church van, I couldn't stop crying I was so overwhelmed of how clearly the Lord spoke to me. I was embarrassed because there were others around me, and I just couldn't stop crying. All of a sudden my ears tuned into the radio, and every word spoke to me as if the Lord hand picked this song. When I heard "don't you look back" I went from sadness, to bring empowered and encouraged. Recently my bishop preached a message and mentioned Cortez and the burning of the ship's and I just shouted "yeeees" as I thought about this song and how much it still speaks to me every time I hear it.
