This is the first motorized bicycle motor I ever bought. I ride it till the factory chrome lining came out. I figured let’s just rebuild it and replace it, unfortunately the 1 piece cylinder is no longer accurate to buy and rebuild. So since I’m not one to give up easily. I decided to buy a 2 piece cylinder to do a conversion. Unfortunately the way my brain works, is standard isn’t good enough. I do a bunch of changes I never did before and face and old problems as this isn’t the first time I tried to save this old and very broken motor. Follow along as its journey will most likely never be finished. Especially since 3 weeks after I finished it heather kinda broke it bad, but that’s in the next video. Hope you follow along.

It’s not balanced but I did true it and it rolls nice considering how many miles it has. But I hope the next video on this motor we make it even better. Well to be honest after my wife got done with it I don’t really have a choice but to make it better…..

Massive thanks to you Johnnie. Great video! Just replace the piston. I would personally go with a Minarelli piston. You know like a 50cc 40mm Minarelli piston. They're plentiful and have a great squish band area unlike the stock beveled piston. Yamaha Jog or BWS etc. Have them. Better rings too

That’s a good idea, I’m goin to look into a different style piston for it and see what I can come up with.

Aluminium Weld you heat the case and pour the molten rods from a curcible and pour into the void.

Not going to to lie but a real crucible would be awesome to have so I could make my own parts from scratch.

The only JB weld that is rated high enough is original Cold Weld formula Steel reinforced Epoxy and if 550°f after 24 hour fully cured

1 of the most important things to get aluminui- weld to work properly is to scuff the parts (brush away surface oxidation layer) with a clean stainless steel wire brush right before heating 🔥 to weld. Which is sadly part of the reason why u can't weld together all aluminum with it. That & heat dissipation issues. It does actually work on pot metal 80s Japanese pot metal motorcycle parts. Before alumiweld there was no way diy repair broken pot metal.

Yeah I still think I could do something with it but I need a real torch, so this will be revisited eventually. Hopefully this year but who knows if I get it to do it but I’ll keep the camera rolling to catch my blunders lol.

Well that was the plan but a wrench got thrown into the mix, the wrenches name is Heather. She was riding it on the daily cause that’s technically her bike but I never got to finish tuning it and she hadn’t ride in a long while and totally forgot I told her don’t rev it down a hill, especially a steep hill; and well we need to do a lot of work to the 50 now and since it was her I didn’t get any footage of it ridin out. But whatever happened should be entertaining.

Yes I know if the channel and seen that he made that video. I just don’t agree with everything said and/or done the way he does. Not saying it’s wrong necessarily just sayin there’s more than one way to get to the end. Thanks for commenting.

@@JMB676 I completely understand . No 2 cooks cook gumbo the same way . These bikes are like gumbo . When I was green I listened to a guy who had been building them for 8 years . He was no assembler . I only listened to him because too many cooks can spoil the stew . Tragically he passed away . But before he left he taught me all about reliability . Reliability was more important than speed to me yet my last build reached 42 mph on a pk 80 . That was like going 100 on my motorcycle ,....wait it was scary and 100 mph on a motorcycle is not .🤪
