PLAYER OPINIONS on Winter Village + Snowflake Grinding

As an older player, this winter update has been really disappointing. Between work and university, I have about 3 hours of free time a day, and I don’t want to spend that time grinding for a temporary event with a wild end goal of 18k snowflakes. Normally the winter village is my favourite update but the winter village being so dark this year has made it so that I only log on to collect and advent and then log back off, it’s really disappointing that they’ve made us grind for an event which will go away in a month ☹️☹️

I'm disappointed I joined in 2017, I'm super busy in real life between school and in that little free time I get I write or read I find it almost impossible even the year we had to fix the Halloween portals I couldn't finish that let alone getting thousands of snowflakes in a few minutes in the hallow woods it was okay as I'm not a paying player even when I am using codes I'm doing quests not getting lights

The biggest problem that I have with the winter village is honestly just the purple filter they added to the environment, it literally obstructs my vision and makes it very difficult to see anything because it's so dark. As someone who has to where glasses because I have a hard time seeing things at a distance and in low light, I always found star stable extremely frustrating to play whenever they decide to place a filter over an area. It reminds me of that tree race that's located on South Hoof where there used to be purple fog there as well and I used to hate racing there because it was difficult to see any of the jumps. I'm glad players are speaking up about this because hopefully SSE will take action. My advice for next year would be to just add the winter village in its full beauty for everyone to enjoy, I'm so tired of restoring temporary area when all I want to do is just enjoy them while they're here.

I think that the filter would be fine if we had the choice to do the quest with collecting snowflakes but the problem is it’s required to get rid of the filter so it just plain stupid

@@Bratzenthusiast I agree with you that if this whole collecting snowflakes grind was optional for those who actually want to participate that would've been fine with me. The fact that it's a requirement to grind in order to properly see the winter village is beyond ridiculous.

I think the concept of collecting the snowflakes and the winter magic bar rank up is not that bad. I just feel like the amount of snowflakes you have to collect is wayyy to high, bc like people who have to work and students who go through a lot of exams right now dont have the time for collecting so many snowflakes. And also people dont want to grind 18000 snowflakes, i feel like everyone wants a bit more lightharted christmas/wintery fun. Also the purple filter in the winter village is really annoying after some time and js looks bad, i wish the filter would fade away a bit sooner while collecting and recharging the magic so you a least have a nicer looking winter village. I js think that if the challenge wasn‘t that hard people would enjoy the update a bit more, i mean everyone just wants some chill christmasy cheer from sso not js a complete grind no one has time for.💕

I agree I think the grind aspect takes the fun away especially with a limited time event people just want to enjoy the event and not have to grind like crazy especially to basically get back the regular color of the village that seems like something they shouldn’t be taking away in the first place ..

I have mixed feelings about the winter village. This is my first year and I’m not much of a negative person. The winner village is so much fun I like that there is quest and some blizzards and stuff but there’s not so much stuff where we can’t do all of it and grind for snowflakes. I have not ever been much of a grinder, but I really want to do this one for some reason the Hollow Woods one is a little bit more fun just because they’re easier to find and there was other ways to get them, but other than that I enjoy it very much and you have inspired me to log on and grind today. I only get an hour to play so it’s kinda hard to do everything plus the races every 30 minutes the filter sometimes annoys me however, I’ve learned that if you jump off of a cliff in the winter village or Jorovic, the color on mobile and on computer in the winter village, you just have to go to your storage unit and click the photo button not the letter zero or whatever to open the photo button and that sometimes works in Jorovic on mobile. It helps remove the filters and in the Winter Village on computer players, if you go to the closet and hover your little mouse over the photo button and press it, not the key that activates the photo button but actually the button it will remove it in Jorovic and the winter village however, it’s a 50-50 chance it will happen I hope this helps anyone who wants to remove the filter❤

TBH, I feel that SSO has done a good yet bad job on the winter village. Honestly, IMO, the grinding aspect is good. It not only gives me something to do when I'm online and bored but it also helps me set targets (which I usually do in all my games). For example, I log on nearly everyday now to complete one target which most likely is unlock at least one thing. It helps me stay motivated to log on everyday which is getting harder and harder due to lack of motivation. However, I do understand that for a limited time event, there's way too much snowflakes that you have to collect before the winter village disappears which causes FOMO in many players. This could be apart of their campaign to get more active players - as people with shares from the company pay depending on the activity of players. Which makes sense because the player activity has dropped drastically since the game came out, and since the first shares were bought. It explains the small updates that could be because of their shortening budget and the out of the blue big updates. The filter that has been fixed now really caused problems with me, which is why I didn't really spend much time there for the first 2 weeks. I have colour-blindness (protanopia) and therefore seeing things were a struggle. I'm so glad I found the closet glitch and that they fixed it. As the first person said - it's a cool context and can really improve the player activity (which is what I think they were going for) but they didn't fully think it through. To fix this they could've simply added a filter fade slider (like the one in photo mode) in settings or just added an option.

I have gotten the 18k took me a week and a half, for someone that only has maxed horses and pays for stable care and there closet after 12 years of playing is almost full, so I was doing it solely for the crappie player xp and it was so not worth it😢 and the tornados are bugging out i have a few accounts and some will get 50 player xp for the tornados and others don't 😢

I have like 900 I'm on 30 min's everyday, I won't be able to finish grinding, the rewards are horrible like 3 apples for like 2 hours worth of grinding!? I could buy that with like 2 js, not worth it at all, one other bug: when I log in the snow filter that you can turn on is just an obnoxious blob of pink on my screen, just pink other that the ui, no snow, and the chainsaw water bucket hoof pick and haybale 😡😡

I love yet hate this update. I enjoy collecting stuff but I can't grind for forever. The glitches for mobile is insane and such. I fall through the map, i glitch into walls, i get suspected of cheating? All i did was jump into a snow pile. The rewards aren't even that great. I play all the time. My glasses that i wear can sometimes cause issues like headaches and such. The purple glare is so hard on me. This is my first winter village on sso. And it doesn't look or feel like the videos i have watched. I love the animals we can ride it makes the grinding a but funny and such. The game also takes so much battery life. Like 10 mins playing and im down to 60%. Mobile is all i play on but i really love riding. But like 2 snow tokens for over 2k isn't much fun. I've voiced my opinion in my servers chat and alot agree besides a few. But its something to take your time with. Love yet hate. I enjoyed seeing this video pop up into my recommendations. A new yt i shall vibe with.
