Yeah, pisses me off, too. Got so many good Backgounds/Chars where it just would not fit for them to be male. And everytime you get the same Bullshit females get plus the "You are a Man, so you asked fort it by playing a female Char!". NO I DON'T! Neither did any of the Women "dressing too sexy". Yeah sometimes one gender just fits better for another. Like I'm a girl and I played a male half-orc druid for a while, and being a guy just kinda fit more for him and his personality. Just in the same way that my female dwarf cleric works a lot better as a girl, despite how tomboyish she is it'd still be weird if she was a dude instead, and works more thematically.

I'm playing a female character at the moment, as I feel female is more fitting for a sorcerer/cleric of Auril. Don't know why, but I think it's because back in Baldurs Gate 2 (might've been IWD tbh which would make more sense) when you come across a cleric of Auril she was pretty badass and a hard fight so I kinda based it around that.

Wierd I heard the term asexual many times in my live now and I never gave a shit. Only know. Hmmm, well, I guess asexuality is a thing too. . Preferences asside I find it mildly infuriating to have people trying to take direct control over another pc's direct feelings and perception. Yeah there are effects like that... but for that to happen I feel like the person demanding that from me must be respectable irl as well. Which was not really the case here for me. To hear that female characters ( _and therefore females in general?_ ) can only exist to be seduced by someone. . Im a straight man irl and I get it, yeah I get it. Not one of those SJW losers either. But this overly direct objectification of women and their complete denial of personality which might involve not wanting to f°ck like a horny rabbit, it really was irritiating. . And just because the DM was the DM, he would throw a GOD directly towards a mortal to have some cheap rpg-porn happen. These are the types of people who go into such steamy details you wonder why they don't just watch porn in the internet already.

First story: I really, really hope that person was actually a kid. Because otherwise, this is just painful. I DM for a table of kids sometimes, I know how hard roleplaying can be when you're both a) new to it and b) too young to know what makes a character good or bad. The copying is annoying, but if this was actually a child they were playing with then there's at least hope that they'll get better in time. I'm sure most of us did some stupid shit like this the first time we sat down to play. I know I did. Second story: OOF. First off, that was a hell of a play from OP. "They call me The General?" Gold. And secondly, in my main group all of my players actually were women for a long time, until one of my guy friends joined. And he has made an impact already, done a lot of talking to important NPCs and carrying the load in several fights. But the difference is, my friend didn't invalidate the others - they still do a lot of important things. The guy's character can't sneak for shit, and one of the ladies is a rogue. He's got no strength, and the other two are Fighters. He's a magic user, they're not, so he isn't stepping on their toes there. At best, this DM is sacrificing fun for the sake of "realism" in his D&D game, which IMO is already pretty stupid considering the very nature of the game. And at worst - and I suspect most likely - he's just an asshole, whether he's trying to be or not. Third story: ... Yikes. That is all kinds of uncomfortable. I've never had an openly non-straight person at my table before, (although I've been a player at one where the DM is pansexual, but we sometimes forget that because she's seeing a guy right now) but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is *not* how this person wanted to come out. Shame on their "friends" for making them feel like this. D&D is supposed to be an escape, and you ruined that for them. And before some incel comments on how those friends are right, (they're not) I'd like to invite you to read a couple of these links first so you can at least pretend to sound educated as you spout your bullshit. You might not inherently trust some of these sources, but trust me - if you honestly believe that asexuality isn't real, or is a political thing, then I can guarantee that they're at the very least better informed than you. And if you're not one of those people, sorry for the aggressive tone. Had a bad experience with those kinds of people recently, still feeling a little bit defensive about this right now. www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/article/1751928e-93bd-452f-8ff3-38518f765696 www.thetrevorproject.org/trvr_support_center/asexual/ time.com/2889469/asexual-orientation/

@@destroyerinazuma96 Yes, yes they can. There are at least two orientations, sexual and romantic. For most people they either overlap completely or they think they do, however, some people are asexual and alloromantic (allo is the opposite of a, including heteromantic, biromantic, homoromantic and more), and some people are aromantic and allosexual (allosexual, like alloromantic, includes all sexual orientations that are not on the ace spectrum), and finally some people are aromantic and asexual. I now want to design an infernal dungeon, where the party is accompanird by an NPC and "the solution" to each puzzle is something sexual but each time the party figures out what the intended solution, the NPC gets outraged at the unknown builders of the dungeon and "breaks" the puzzle, getting through some other way, so the players never have to actually engage the sexual solution. Example: a teleportation needle that when you prick yourself your body, but none of your gear, is teleported I to the next room which can be seen behind a wall of clear quartz. But when they figure that out the NPC gets infuriated and casts shatter on the quartz wall, allowing them to pass without it. An in world dungeon self-titled "The Dungeon of Lust."

Yeah I mean a part of D&D is how well you gel with the group. I usually take some of these stories with a grain of salt. I'm not saying the Ace Fella is a sensitive snowflake and I'm not saying the table was all douchebags. Mostly cause I wasn't there. See in my group we have all kinds of people, who I am happy I became fast friends with. I'm a the only Christian in my group and I don't get mad at the religious jokes. I have a great sense of humor and I'm not being singled out. We literally make jokes about everyone. One of my friends is a lesbian, which will come in handy later. She is one of the sassiest ones. Well I've had a rough year, my brother died and we almost got wrongfully evicted a few times. So I figured I'll ask them to let another friend(Let's say Newbie) of mine into the group, she really loved the stories about our shenanigans and wanted in. plus I'd she can be a substitute healer while I deal with IRL stull. I figured it was a sure win, so I vouched for her. I gave them my word I was wrong... Newbie only showed up to 2 sessions and one day in the server she posted she MIGHT make it to a session. My lesbian friend made a really tame and light joke about her not showing up and the Newbie friend I let it taken it VERY personally. It sparked this horrible fight that so bad that the friend who got me into this group had to come get me (Keep in mind I was worried that our shitty land lord was gonna throw my family out illegally so I was looking up law stuff and looking for a lawyer). I was appalled at Newbie's behavior. Newbie says she's in the right cause she shouldn't being any sass cause she "Has a rough patch she's working through and doesn't need this negativity!" I won't even go into what she was going through cause it stupidity on her part and D&D would've helped her distracted herself from it. She also tried to claim my lesbian friend was phobic of her sexuality being bisexual. Needless to say Newbie friend left the group. I felt like shit for her attacking my friend, so I was super apologetic to her. I'm still pissed that I vouched for newbie and she utterly wasted it making my word look bad. Thankfully my D&D group is chill and they understand it's not my fault and I'm still friends with newbie and I do regularly give her shit about it. Also our landlord stopped his shit so we're good there for now lol The moral of the story I learned is for a group to work you need to make sure everyone gels well together. Now my gf spectates when her internet behaves and is thinking about joining.

That last post reminded me of my first game of DnD. I had just come out as asexual and my friends said they were cool with it but a few months later when one of them decided to run a campaign for us it became clear that they definitely were not cool with it. The DM and some of the players seemed like they were doing everything in their power to make me uncomfortable, whether it be making npcs flirt with me or the PCs trying to sleep with my character. It finally got to a breaking point when some of the PCs decided to have an orgy with an ENTIRE VILLAGE just to see what I’d do. After that I left and never played with them again. A few years later I heard from a mutual friend that the players and dm apparently made a bet to see when I’d “turn straight”. Needless to say I ended all contact with that group at that point.

7 Deadly Sins guy probably sounds like he's on the spectrum. 1. Childish outbursts and inability to focus on one character. 2. Lack of truly creative thinking and having to heavily reference if not straight up rip creative ideas 3. Lack of planning ahead. 4. Getting angry and argumentative when his plans don't go his way. My son is autistic, and introducing him to DND went very much this way for a while. It's been 3 years working with him in order to get him to the point where he's "almost" ready to really join in one of our games. In the past we had to; simplify his character builds. He excells at playing characters that are basically one-trick-ponies with simple backstories. We also tried to make plots about his character so that he felt central to the plot and engaged. But he also doesn't have to make any crucial decisions for the party. As with anything that requires social interaction, people on the spectrum will require different levels of patience and compromise and that won't always fit with every group. If you're willing to host someone like this, try to be understanding that they may take a LOT of effort to get to the point where other players are capable of roleplaying or thinking of truly original ideas, or some of their ideas might be a little too outlandish. (in one of our games, his fighter used his handle animal skill and a portion of his rations to tame a cockatrice... The same cockatrice that previously petrified my Drow cleric, who basically acted as a heal bot, and a voice of reason while his uncle acted as the DM for us.) I mean, there's always the chance that he was just some creepo weeb, that happens a lot, too, but I just felt like I recognized some of the tell tale signs, and wanted to write this up. (It might be really cool to hear Crit tell my mini story someday ;) )

The second one... ugg. Reminds me of maybe my only horror story? Maybe I should post a longer version of this on the subreddit, but here's basically what happened. (TW for abuse mentions) So I once played in a campaign at the lgs I work at where the DM tried to get my female human monk into bed with an npc. My monk declined, and we continued playing. Next week he tried again, again she declined, and I brought up after the game that I was VERY uncomfortable doing sex stuff in game. He apparently took this as me saying I just couldn't bring myself to because I'm introverted. So next week he then FORCED the npc on my pc, and I proceeded to mentally breakdown. I felt like I couldn't do anything else to get it to stop so I just started crying and had to bring up a very traumatic event that occurred when I was younger being why I didn't want to do anything sexual in game. It was extremely embarrassing.

My dm's never crossed the line and even made a special effort to ask if something was okay to do if they knew some bit of the story would come close to the line. But it all comes down to communication and dm's should do this with every player, regardless of sex, or sexual orientation.

The confusion on gender is understandable since I still don't think there is a consensus on what the word even actually means.... Is it another word for sex? Another word for name? Sexual orientation? Social classes? All of the above? None of the above? Heck it's hard to even discuss what it means without being called a bigot....
