regarding that question about countries' footballing strength, corruption is also a big part of it, whether that's at the federation level or the grassroots level. people siphoning money away from the places where the money should be spent and putting it in their own pockets prevents the infrastructure from developing properly, and corruption is unfortunately quite deep-rooted in indian society (as it is in many other developing countries)

My experience with Indian parents and children is similar to Micah's. Most of all they want their children to be succesful, and the idea of a career in football is seen as too much of a long shot to even pursue

Micah's story about the books is very relatable! I remember going to the Isle of White for a football tournament aged 16, and coming back to find out my Mum had 'sorted out' my book shelf above the bed. Why she felt any need to rearrange or tidy it I'll never know, but I still think about whether she saw a certain magazine tucked into my 'Greek Mythology' book. What made it worse was the material was very hardcore milf stuff.

Theres 2 issues with india and top quality football 1. India not allowing dual nationals. There are many players in English academies with indian origins who could represent india but since india doesnt allow dual nationals, they cannot represent india unless they revole their british passport 2. India is ranked in the lower end of teams and uefa/fa doesnt allow players from lower ranked countries to play in european teams
