Sonic the Hedgehog is chaotic good; but his chaoticness usually manufests as being a thrillseaker, rather than disrespect for authority. Q from Star-Teck is chaotic good too, and it manufests as using pranks as a teaching tool, to help humanity better itself.

Currently playing as a Chaotic Good greatsword-wielding Cleric/Fighter named Korion on Neverwinter Nights. Often fights for the down-trodden, willing to use violence if necessary to help others. Also fights undead but also learns to summon undead in a fight. For him, Necromancy is a tool that when handle right, it can be a great asset. Most Clerics abhor the undead, but Korion learns to wield Necromancy as a tool for good.

I like Pathfinder 2E's interpretation of Alignment, specifically the idea of champions. For the longest time, Paladins were locked into ONLY being Lawful Good or ONLY Lawful Evil in the case of Blackguards. Well now, Pathfinder introduces champions, where you can have divinely inspired knights of ANY alignment. So if you wanted to play a chaotic good Robin Hood type character, who also happens to be a knight, there's now a viable option for you.
@GamersDenLoremaster2 жыл бұрын
I agree and it's a conclusion my friends and I landed on a long time ago in 3rd edition. It was when we realized: "Wait...why are monks locked to any Lawful alignment? How is martial discipline exclusively a lawful trait? That's dumb." So we ended it and extended it to Paladins with it being more or less: "Behave how your deity would want their exemplar faithful to behave."

I like that you kept your descriptives short, concise and comprehensive. I left three other videos because they took too long to explain what I was looking for. We are starting a campaign with our kids, the character I’m playing is a chaotic good Aasimar that was born from Drow parents. I’m pretty proud of her backstory. Her name is Lilum This video helped me. I’m going to go for a Robin Hood and Legend of Korra feel. (Lilum uses cockiness and over confidence to hide her fear that not only is her older sister after her, but the rest of Menzoberranzan and Lolth) My daughter is a Teifling and my son chose to be a Dragonborn. So, a demon, an Angel, and a dragon walk into a bar… lmao

Would you say Avatar Kyoshi would be chaotic good? Or would she be more neutral maybe?
@GamersDenLoremaster Жыл бұрын
@@acotooychic101 I'd say most iterations of the Avatar are along the lines of Neutral good. A strong emphasis on harmony and balance that supercedes and places them in the path of nations and rulers shows a willingness to stand against organised societies. But they also stand against chaotic forces running amok, like spirits, bandits, etc.
@acotooychic101 Жыл бұрын
@@GamersDenLoremaster hmmm I think that would be an influence of Rava, but I think that each avatar is its own. Like Kuruk was self admittedly lazy. He was the reason The Face Stealer, Koh, killed his girlfriend. Avatar Kyoshi wasn’t a good example of chaotic good, I think she might more be lawful evil. She only did what was good for her and what she viewed was good. She didn’t try to save the Earth kingdom when Chen the conqueror was reigning. When he came to her door she decided “Haha, nope f this shit I’m out!” And cut off the peninsula and made Kyoshi Island. When they tried to prove her innocence of the case she said she didn’t see it any different accident or not she killed him when she did that. There were some very selfish avatars. A lot of fans hated Korra because of her “cockiness” yet loved those same traits in Toph and the other Beifongs. (Korra is my BAE 🥺) you can probably see what series I have absolutely delved into lol but these characters help me envision the alignments and what they could be portrayed as. I never would have thought of Kyoshi being lawful evil but my bf explained it to me and it makes sense. I understand that the alignments are a guide to how to role play. I’m so excited. I’m having a hard time between chaotic good and neutral good, they seem very similar according to these guides
@GamersDenLoremaster3 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong, there's a fair amount of overlap between the two. I would say, generally, the biggest difference is that Neutral Good sees the benefits and drawbacks to laws in structuring society, in addition to the benefits and drawbacks to disregarding them and will make use of either if it means achieving a greater degree of good for others as a whole. Chaotic Good, while maybe seeing the benefits to laws in some instances, recognizes how they can be subverted, bent and twisted by those in power. The law at that point is as much a dagger at the throat of society, as it is a shield for those abusing that power. So they are willing to forego the law entirely. But it doesn't mean they wouldn't welcome it under certain conditions. Take Robin Hood, especially the older movies and stories: He fought against the Tyrannical Prince John, who was claiming the throne of England and imposed crazy high taxes on his citizens. Robin fought against the law out of concern for the common folk and for the return of the rightful ruler, King Richard. I hope that has helped clarify things! Alignments are, by nature, a bit blurry on where one ends and another begins.
@peter_isthewolf Жыл бұрын
@@GamersDenLoremaster Wouldn't that make Robin Hood Neutral Good though? He didn't accept the law when prince John was ruling, but did accept them when the king Richard returned.
@GamersDenLoremaster Жыл бұрын
@@peter_isthewolf I think Chaotic Good can be accepting of Kingship and rulers it they laws and decrees they enact are overall a benefit for people. Most modern-ish retellings tend to show Robin Hood just up and leaving once King Richard returns to the throne (Robin Hood w/Errol Flynn, etc.) But there's a solid argument to be made for him being NG. I tend to look at it as his alignment shifting at the completion of the campaigns arc.

Would you say Uhtred from the Last Kingdom is chaotic good? I’m trying to make the character I play make decisions similar to him and are trying to get into the mind of the character but it’s my first DND experience so I’m not great at playing a character and not myself
@GamersDenLoremaster4 ай бұрын
I have only seen a few episodes of the show, so my insight is limited on it. But I'm assuming Uhtred makes a move for his father's throne, right? It's why his uncle tried so hard to pay the ransom after the battle: it ends all legitimate claims to the seat of power that supercede his own. So Uhtred is well within his rights to fight for lands and title that would be rightly his, he has Causus Belli; cause for war. Because his uncle had betrayed his father and was looking to kill him, it's justum bellum, or a 'just war'. Because for this time period with this portrayal, he could reasonably be seen as justified. If in conducting the war he uses clever tactics, ambushes, means that make up for his smaller numbers at the start, but is honoring agreements, not mindlessly butchering and pillaging, or is sparing prisoners and captives, then he's also navigating rules for jus ad bellum, or justice in war. I think he might be more of a neutral good character. But if he's conducting himself and his army with these principles in mind, but he's really ruthlessly effective against armed enemies in opposition to him and he's doing everything he can to even the odds that doesn't hurt the people (in particular those he's going to be ruling over after the fighting is done) then a good argument could be made for chaotic good at the start, but he's also fighting for a position that presumably will come with rules and laws that have to be maintained in a just fashion, but balance the needs of state since he can't just go and piss off all the nobles under him without risking their betrayal, so neutral good is where I think he would end up. But it's just one take out of a sea of takes and as I'd said: I've only seen three or four episodes. Far enough in that the dude he paid a ransom for him is dead and his farm burned down by the dude he'd cast out and that sociopathic kid of his.

@GamersDenLoremaster3 жыл бұрын
That's one of those traits that could be held by any alignment really, a lot of it depends on context. CN, CG, even NE might find slavers, abusers and the like distasteful and hold a special hatred for them in their hearts. Normally NE, as a general rule, might find such things acceptable if it serves their ends. But it doesn't mean they HAVE to follow that rule. They might use a group of slavers to accomplish some end, like kidnapping someone, or tracking someone down. But then instead of paying them, the NE character hangs every last one of them, one by one and leaves the leader nailed to a tree for scavengers animals.

Somone I know played a character who rescued children from cults, in hopes to induct them into her own. She wasn't just using kids however. She genuinely belived she was helping the kids, and frankly, her god was far more benevolent than the powers the other cults were warshiping, even thoguh her God was a probly a figment of her imagination, and the other cult's deity was probly an actuall dark power. ... I think she's chaotic-good. She also stole a teddy-bear once, so it wouldn't be neglected. The previous owner had probly out grown the toy. ... However, the group leader also *leagaly* stole the entire building we found the bear in, after we helped a ghost who was haunting the place to move on. Unfortunatly for us, that ghost then got resurected, and was mad at us for stealing her buisiness, which we justifyed as compensation for the good deed of helping the (former) ghost.
