Do a draft where every round, you randomize a year from 2000-2022 and each pick you choose a player drafted that year (ex. Round 1, 2015, Mcdavid. Round 2, 2004, Ovechkin)

So the answer is this: The game changes role/potential to reflect the standard of the league. This is most evident when you add/subtract teams to/from the league-- ie, if you add 16 teams to the league, players who are in the low 80s or even high 70s may be listed as top 6, and they'll even ask for top 6 money in FA to reflect that. Otherwise the cap and role expectations wouldn't be realistic. It's more subtle in a fantasy draft but it still happens in reaction to the redistribution of talent.

I think it may be that the potentials in the game are based on what type of player they have been in their career (like Hyman is a top 6 forward not elite bc he hasn’t been amazing his whole career) but when you get into franchise mode it changes it based on overall and I think 87 is usually elite.

You actually don't pronounce Vejmelka's name that bad, just one thing - the j isn't silent, it's pronounced y. But not pronouncing it doesn't hurt as much as using the j sound - like in jeep or jeans
