I think the football players forget that these ratings are judged against the perfect player have 100 and a guy with like a 50 rating still plays at a level around english league 1. The ratings aren't linear either, so a rating of like 75 is like a decent premier player. 80 is the best player on a bottom half premier league player. 85 is like the best player on a team challenging for europe or a starter for a team challenging to win the title in a top 5 league.
