I didn't play professionally but played in college. I didn't have "love" for Jordan. Granted I think he was a great athlete and player but he was heavily favored by the refs. Not too long ago a nba ref even admitted they were instructed to not call many fouls on MJ. He said people don't pay $1500 to sit courtside to watch Jordan sit the bench. He also said they were instructed to give the Bulls and MJ every advantage to win. Which you could barely breath on him and they'd call a foul. He stayed at the ft line. (Especially towards the end of the game) I've heard several mj fans even laugh about it. Which it was obvious . Remember when Magic during that photo shoot with Jordan & Bird said he better not stand too close because he will get called for a foul. Lol. Even Birds laughed because he knew it was true. Jordan was a huge investment to the NBA. Heavy mass marketing and P.R. helped push the "jordan" brand. From most I've read or seen about MJ personally sounds like an egocentric asshole.(a womanizer, gambling addict, etc.) Maybe you should do some research on how big a prick he was. But, some MJ fanboys will always refuse to acknowledge anything negative about their hero from when they were kids. Another thing. IsJordan was a ball hog. Don't let his assist average fool ya. Google "biggest ball hog in nba" and every single list has Jordan as the #1 guy. I only found one list that had him second but the vast majority concur. I've heard mj fanboys talk like he was some great 3 pt shooter too. He wasnt a great 3pt shooter either. It's like they still picture him as the cool guy from Space Jam or how they did when they were 12 years old. Lol.

I clearly remembered he denied me an autograph when I was 9 y/o. He was at the golf course where my father worked. I rode my bike across town about 8 miles and there he was. With two models and two very large body guards. There was absolutely no one else around on this foggy morning. I was a Bull's fan like almost every kid at that time, he was at the peak of his career. I eventually built the courage to approach him and ask for his autograph. I was intimidated and nervous. He failed to even make eye contact, as he turned away and went about his business he said, "we're not signing autographs today". I felt a knot in my stomach like someone had kicked me right in the gut. I understand he was on vacation, but there was no crowds, no media, it was just a kid in his bike in this massive golf course. On that day, he lost a fan and have never bought a pair of Jordan's in my life.

As a Knicks fan, I will always have disdain for Jordan in that aspect. As for any tactics he used to gain mental leverage against opponents, the opponent has to take the blame for letting their guard down. As for conflicts with teammates, the man simply had the will to win and reverted to any means necessary. However, there were indeed boundaries as told by the situation with Robert Parish, established and well respected during the 80s showdowns. But thru it all let's not forget the hell MJ went thru with the Bad Boys to get over the hump, and how that physical style of basketball was embraced throughout the 90s. Yes, always disdain for him being a Knicks fan, but damn what I would give to watch that era again.

So Jordan knew his other teammates where going to protect him if he got into a fight with a lower ranked teammate because he was the goose that laid the golden egg. Sounds exactly like how the referees gave him preferential treatment too because the NBA knew Jordan was good for business.

Parrish played and excelled during the most physical time of the NBA. He also played with arguably the most relentless trash talker of all time in Bird. Parrish delivered one of the most brutal fouls to Laimbeer when he pissed him off. It's a good thing Jordan realized that and left him alone.

M Bird and Magic will tell you when they were on the Dream Team, Jordan walked up to them and told them to their faces. " There's a new sheriff in town! And you're looking at him!"
