U probably didnt notice while fighting but Ping was really bad at it. He just yelled while running forward awkwardly and doing heavily telegraphed attacks. Mulan is more free with her attacks.

In case you don't know, there was an exploit in earlier versions of KH2 [not sure if it's still in this version] to level up the Drive forms: if you go to a save point and warp back to the ship before the Drive expires, when you go back to a world, your Drive meter will reset to 3 or something, instead of going to 0. I remember the Village Cave being one of my favorite grind spots to utilize that exploit.

There was, but I think the idea was that Shang was simply dismissing Ping/Mulan for being an unfit soldier. Even though she was drafted in the first place, I imagine a commanding officer could easily just say "you aren't fit to be here. Go home."

And China's goal is to win the war, which means that sending home unfit soldiers is great. So I suspect that yes, given reason, both the imperial bureaucracy and the army would be OK making an enemy of a minor, distant noble house.

Dan: I know this was a rexording session and it's not going to do any good for a few episodes yet, but: Aerial Recovery counters the knockback from those centaur things (and many, MANY other enemies) if you push circle before you hit the ground. That's rather the point. I am having fun though. :3 Also, Mulan's limit is neat, but my favorites are Beast and Simba. You'll get there.

As a note for Sora's animation changing when he goes into Valor form specifically: It's likely to make up for the second keyblade in hand, as not all of his animations would look so good/work at all with the second keyblade in hand without it clipping through something. You can kind of see a not as great solution for that by his falling becoming him spread out like an eagle.

FUN FACT The voice actress of Mulan plays a VERY important and main role in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent May, a *REALLY* kick-ass, badass bitch Her Mulan voice slips out every once in awhile in that show, which is how I personally found out, and could hear a little bit of Agent May in her portrayal of Ping in this, funnily enough

I'd like to extend a few helpful tips and information! - First of all, you can toggle which Abilities are equipped to Sora and the rest of the party by just pressing Triangle on them. If you do this on Abilities for Donald and Goofy that have the arrows beside them, you can dictate how frequently they'll use that skill. This will help you a fair bit with Donald, as it will stop him freely consuming all his MP with Cure. - MP Charge is simple enough. When the gauge is blue, you're free to use your Magic as much as you like. When you deplete the gauge, it turns pink, and that's the MP Charge; there's a cooldown as the pink gauge depletes, where you can't use your magic, but once empty the blue bar will return completely full. You'll get a few Abilities later in the game that will help MP Charge go quicker. - On another Magic-related note, almost every spell counts as a combo when on the ground now. You can chain different spells together for varying combo attacks, and every spell has a finishing strike. I recommend experimenting with it! - As an extension to the previous one, any hit in a Magic combo will count as a finishing blow on bosses. Make good use of it if you want to finish off your foes quickly! - If you go to the Status screen in the menu, each of Sora's Drive Forms has a separate screen with it's own stats and experience. If you click on these and hover over the Experience part, the summary at the bottom will tell you what is required to gain EXP and level up the respective Drive Form. This also extends to Summons once you unlock them. You'll hit level caps for your Drives and Summons at certain points, and that level cap will increase as you gain more Drive Forms, with an upmost limit of Level 7. - This one's for the purposes of levelling up your Drives: if you leave a world via a Save Point while still in a Drive Form, your Drive Gauge will be completely refilled once you enter a world again. This also applies when running into a room where your Party Members are actively walking around. Hopefully all this information will be of use to you!

I love the attention to detail in the vfx. you can see they changed the effects that are area specific to have the same feel as the film. same thing with the red rocket, it has mulan inspired explosions that are different then the standard fire.

PLEASE remember that you can do X-Attacks as well as Triangle It's literally the only reason why I couldn't beat the very last boss of the game growing up and needed to look up a play-through to see what I was doing wrong, you're meant to spam X and Triangle in *ALL limits*

Honestly, this is a lot more fun to watch someone play than KH1 and Chain of Memories as well. I had watched some KH cutscenes in chronological order, up to the beginning of KH2, and I had originally thought I would watch all of your episodes on those shows despite having seen the story parts. ... Also also, when you spam a offensive Magic (like Blizzard or Fire), the 3rd time you cast it will come out differently: Sora will "bark" the magic's name, it's animation will come out different (slower, but with more spectacle), and it's damage will be higher.

Okay, Mulan is the first Disney world where I'm not cringing at the voice acting and how they rearranged the story. If anything, the plot is substantially less awkward when you give Mulan friends who help keep her secret. Four for you, KH2. Though I'm still concerned about the cutout in Sora's armor around his crotch. How did that get past Disney QA?

Oh not sure if you noticed/learned this but MP charge refers to when you run outta mana and your MP enters a recharge state. Also while it is in that state, it helps charge up your drive bar (as does attacks and drive orbs but just thought you should know)

Also, I don't know if Dan has figured out how MP Charge works, but just in case... In KH2, everytime MP depletes, you enter in "MP Charge" mode: the MP bar changes color and begins filling up again. You can't cast anything while in MP Charge. The thing is: even when you don't have enough MP to cast a magic or limit, you're allowed to do it. In that case, the magic/limit will appear in yellow letters and it will drain your remaining MP upon use (and MP Charge will trigger). So, what about the costumization option in the menu, you ask? Well, it simply prevents you from using that ability if it would completely deplete your MP. That way, you can keep the rest for a more useful one, like a Cure or a limit. Example: Let's say you haven't customized Sora. Your full MP is 40 points, Fire costs 30 to cast and Cure costs 50. You begin spamming Fire. You cast it once, now you have 10 MP. When you cast it for the 2nd time, Fire will appear in yellow letters. You will be able to use it, but then MP Charge will happen. Now let's say you customized Sora to prevent MP Charge on Fire. Now, the game will lock you from using it the 2nd time, and you will save that last 10 MP to use that "last minute" Cure (you won't have to wait until your MP recharges)

Dan, when doing limits with party members, usually triangle and cross do different things(this is especially important for bosses) Also pay attention to the command menu, the names show that what cross and triangle attacks are.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking the way each form levels up by going into status> valor and looking at the exp tooltip. That will make you less worried about using forms in less optimal situations.

I always wondered where the 2nd Keyblade comes from. The first game had keychains, which just changed the shape of the Kingdom Key. Surely Sora's Keyblade doesn't split, right? Fun fact, in the movie Mulan cuts her hair to become more manly, but in China it would be even more suspicious, because according to confucionism no one should cut their hair, because it is a gift from one's parents (with the entire body) and cutting it would be a disrespect to them. The only exception are children if the parents themselves cut the hair. Man at that time had long hair and they did those hair buns to make it easier to deal with it during the day and in battles. The exception were budists, because they didn't follow confucionism.
