Being a fantastic drummer has nothing to do with you having the best of drums to play with but that’s is not to say having a good gear is bad but at some point in life we all just have to be used to what can bring the best out of us any giving opportunity and am glad my friend and brother did justice to that narrative

How in Ethiopia literally millions has to flee suburbs and cities to live in the bush, as the infrastructure is collapsing, and other nations throughout Africa be it the Horn of Africa, to central, countless have been forced to flee, even nations that had the infrastructure to support physical banks have failed, leaving empty buildings. ( if you’re a US citizen, think back to the housing market collapse, and people trying to bring their money out and banks telling them “ you can’t. You have no money. Because we used it”. Except there was no bail out, and there is war) Not every nation is like this but plenty are, making the situation that this guy originally has a drum kit, but no longer does much more realistic. As he would’ve needed to play a regular quality one to rebuild this. Not sure why you’re calling others ignorant when it seems to apply to you as well. The most inspiring, the most impressive drumming I’ve experienced live was in DC in the subway. Young man with a couple of plastic pickle buckets just going at it. And with the underground echo and the wall of sound he created, it nearly brought me out of my body and I almost had a near death experience… But our train came and I had to leave the show just as I was about to take my last breath. I revived soon after and went forward into the sunlight a changed and humbled human being.

Dude, I had a similar experience as a 20 yr old in NYC. I was on a first date with a very attractive young lady, and had indulged in some marijuana use before her and I hopped on the subway to check out a show in Brooklyn. We got off the subway car and there was a circle around this older black guy on a full drum set. He immediately grabbed me with what he was doing. I cant even explain it, it's one of the powers of music and communicating through an instrument. This guy was standing there with his hand on his chin listening as I was to the building and weaving of sounds. It was an experience, not just a groove. Like listening to a story being told on drums. And this guy watching him just shakes his head at one point and laughs, and throws some cash into the man's jar or whatever. The drummer didnt notice, because he had his eyes closed. It was so epic and unexpected. I love the power of music.

Most people don't appreciate anything good. Lot's of talent in the world that is scuttled because of greed and stupidity... just "modern" human life. The morons and lunatics destroy everything. There are professional drummers who can't drum half as good as this kid who have 10 drum sets. In some sense though it is actually good he started this way. By starting on minimal crappy drums and learning to make them sound good means anything added is just icing. He still has a lot of work to do but I guess he is young so if he's able to continue playing he will be very good one day. He needs to work on his rudiments rather than single stroking everything. To be honest though there are tons of kids out there that could make great _____ but our capitalistic society doesn't care. It's all about $$$. So no matter how good this kid is, if he doesn't learn how money works he will never make it or end up being a slave to some corporation who will bleed his soul dry.

Better yet they should just give full finished kits to people you know gots the skills, they just dont have the means to afford it. DW and all the rest of the big companies that produce there products in such an abundance.should be giving away there best kits to poor people with talents like this guy. For big companies like DW and the rest of them should be doing this and not because it's charatable but because it's just the right thing to do. What's the point in having all those riches and still not do anything honorable with it.
@dreddmann9292
@dreddmann9292 2 жыл бұрын
When I say abundance I mean these companies produce in a ridiculous abundance. A good top of the line brand new built to last Tom bracket alone cost $50 or even more, thats just for 1, in most countries that 50 dollars can feed a whole family for a whole month. These days it seems that people just don't know how to give. Nothing feels better than giving someone sonething you know you have more than enough of it on your own. The whole point in creating abundance is so that everybody can get it. Giving to charity is really not the spirit of giving, especially when you know it's just a tax right off. Wealthy people don't want to give and they definitely don't want to share, its no wonder why the homeless are starting to camp out in rich neighborhoods. If I was forced to live on the streets I'm not gojng set camp in a shitty neighborhood, I'm gojng to post up my tent and lay somewhere nice clean and comfortable.

reminds me of when I was kid. My dad (a drummer) split on my fam when I was around 11 or 12. He didn't leave me anything but I did find a broken ludwig speedking pedal , 3 broken cymbals, and two broken cymbal stands along with probably the cheapest snare drum I've ever seen ...all in this box in the garage. So I took my little tv nightstand, fastened the kick pedal to a broken skateboard and placed it so the beater would hit the back of the tv stand. that was my kick. put two broken cymbals together for the hats and had the other for the crash/ride. This was late 90's so , without the internet as a resource I didn't have a way of learning what "multitracking" was, but I figured out that I could record a drum beat using a cheap boombox, then play my drum recording off the boombox while playing guitar to it. if I came up with something good, I would get another boom box and record both myself playing guitar along to my "drum boombox" . Now that you can basically make a record on your cellphone, none of these means anything.lol.

I'll take a Ludwig kit, Mapex kit, a kit from a small builder, or build my own drums, before I fork out ~$6k for any similar specced DW/Pearl/Tama kit. Hell, even Sonor is astronomically overpriced. Any drum will work fine, as long as the shell is intact, and the hardware is in good shape. Heads, tuning, and the drummer, will have a much bigger impact on the sound, than the name printed on the bass drum head.

That's AWESOME! This guy appears to possess an incredible talent. He has the "makings" to be a GREAT fusion drummer. Imagine what he can do with a full set of Tama or North drums .This guy has displayed some "nice" techniques on a "two piece"drum set.

Sometimes having less is more! Less drums = more skill! Great playing! The kit sounds pretty damn good imo!

sometimes.. i once had a ultra shitty 20 year olddrum, in a wet room, with much reverb. Im telling you there is a point where its totally uninspiring, i literally didnt wanna play nomore with that setup. And im passionate since i started. I feel Drums are some of the worst sounding Instruments in most cases. Miked it sounds a bit better, but acoustically from a distance , shit.. I wished my whole live to one day play in a god drum, and never managed to get it even close to right, i dont know why (i know technically all the problems like room, the choice of the drum, positioning.. dont even start with tuning). So, i think its not often the case that drums are good enough for people to really devellop propperly. Per example Ghostnotes are on many drums sounding like nonexistent, the ringing and Snare-noise often lets them go under. The kick is often not resonating like BOOOM, and instead just sounds like noise.. I had played my whole live like this. The one day i played on a good tunded drum in a store, wich was itselve rare to hear, was everything for me, man would i play this thing loud and looong.

Man! This guy is an absolute master ! I like how cool he looks while playing this. To those who would juge way too quickly, just try once to play drum and you'll see how hard the simpliest beat is.

I used to play with this bassist that told me a story once. He knew a drummer who ONLY played with a kick, snare, and hi-hat. He named his kit The Truth. Whenever people asked him why he named it such, his reply would be "CUZ YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!". I never got to see that dude play, but I imagine he'd sound a lot like this guy. ✊🏽
