It was nice playing with you... I had the KQ, don't give up on tournaments, I play both cash and tourneys and there is a pretty significant difference, I put you on a Q in that hand and I think most would get it in on that turn as played, that's why I flatted, definite cooler. The main event is a week away.......you really should fire away in that one, it is one of the softest tourneys in the early stages, gets pretty tough the deeper you get but I think with a little study you would do well. I do like your vlogs, keep up the good work.

Generally speaking, you play fewer hands and pick your spots in tournaments. You have to remember that you can't just top off if you make a bad call. Of course, it is much more complicated than that. Early play usually means weaker players, mid play is about building a stack, bubble play is where stack size becomes important, after bubble short stacks will get it in lighter because they are in the money. Down to two, maybe three tables, stack size and icm come into play. Do you fold to the final table, or do you play big pots with shorter stacks? I'm no pro so get some help from someone who is, I would if I were planning to play several MSOP tournaments. Learn the different formats, you might like the 6-max NLH or the full ring Limit Holdem or unlimited re-buy NLH.

@Anon you don’t need to be a pro to give advise, I think it’s great advise imo
@roguemerlin19692 жыл бұрын
@Anon Of course there is always an anonymous troll. I'm not a pro in that I don't play to make my living doing it. I'm 70 years old and have probably been playing poker longer than you have been alive. I do play three or four smaller tournaments a month in Texas. I have done some study and the advice I gave is general and covered in any book or lecture on tournament play. They are generally divided up into early play, middle play, bubble play, big stack/short late play, and final table. I didn't critique any of his hands and I didn't offer any advice on ranges, aggression, or strategies for any of the stages. Instead of trolling me, maybe you could have offered some of your "expert" advice to him.

The silver lining in the QJ hand is that if that were a cash game you probably would’ve been coolered for 20x the amount of the tournament buy in😂
@eshootziscrs28682 жыл бұрын
That would be the downside. I don't think it happens though. Consider the blinds being played, Mariano isn't playing those blinds cash. If you are significantly deep this doesn't play out this way cash. It's almost a fold in this spot. Ya know what's interesting is how well Mariano tossed his cards the length of the table. Sweet. It would be a sick hand in a deep high stakes game. This buy in a lottery ticket comparatively speaking, we'd love to watch it too. I would, and you brought it up. Coolered for 10-25 bbs deep, sucks in a tourney, it's a blessing in cash.

The KQ vs QJ is just a brutal cooler... But, I'll keep this simple... No line of logic or reasoning will make you feel better or worse about how you played the hand. Someone slow played KQ and was rewarded. Doesn't happen often, and the river check meant he was certain you would bet... Which is insane because all of your "likely" hands missed and would usually check back! This time, this player got lucky.
@erichuston18842 жыл бұрын
lucky run out, but the villain played it just how you're supposed to. the alarm bells and concern on the flop min check raise and caller should be pretty obvious one of them has a very strong hand and the other a draw. no shame in folding against opponents who play their cards face up!
