It's weird, you don't realize how many lockers there are on a map until you're going against this killer.

Playing on the PTB it seemed to me that there were lockers in places where I'd never seen lockers before. Perhaps they just increased the amount in general which would be great for Huntress/Trickster also, or maybe it's a Dredge thing where there's more lockers if it's being played. Not sure.

Although good idea with old patch, they’re taking Mori’s out of the game and making it so you automatically Mori the last survivor when you down them. Like there’s no button or anything. You down the last guy and it cuts to the cutscene of mori’ing

What's funny is I read an article on it and the decision to give it the white aura was their crowning decision for the ability. “We had to find a balance where the high-skilled players were scared and impacted by the Power while the newer players were not completely overwhelmed. That was a tricky one, and that’s where the idea of having The Dredge’s aura be visible during the darkness came from. It helped strike a balance between the two groups while maintaining the fear factor. It also helps that when you see The Dredge, it’s absolutely terrifying.” He goes on a bit earlier talking about how early darkness was too brutal for new players. But experienced players have the map memorized and it made no difference. They talked a lot about how trying to figure out visibility was really fucking tricky. I can't disagree especially since, as we see on Otz's screen, shit ton of PC players have their visibility way up. Tbh I think it shafts console players far more than PC, as per usual.

The Dredge is sick, though I wish Nightfall made it so Survivors could see a fair bit less than it does currently. Also, hopefully Onryo gets some buffs, seeing as the Dredge essentially is just a better version of her in almost every regard.

I feel like Nightfall at this point is just a "powerup time", instead of actually altering the environment of the game, I agree that there should be a better mechanic for the supposed "darkness" it brings similar to what Freddy's "dream world" does to the environment. Hell, I think Pyramid Head should have an environment change thing as well even just aesthetically with no additional power, just to pay homage to Silent Hill when the siren goes off.

According to the lore it is a collection of corpses of villagers who tried to create a perfect society. It turned out the leader of the community was manipulating them, sacrificing them one by one to a dark god. They gradually became more and more psychotic, paranoid, and violent until they all killed each other in a massive brawl. Their remains all formed into the dredge and disappeared into a black mist.

What about her being a "stealth" killer with a lullaby, or that using her ability puts that spot on a TWO MINUTE cooldown, or how about having a totally worthless ability to mori people if you can jump out of a TV near them 7 times which will almost never happen thanks to the cooldowns whereas dredge's serves as an anti-loop tool? There's not a single aspect of this killer that doesn't perfectly highlight how terrible of a state sadako is in, which makes me wonder how they didn't see it themselves and do something about it before now. Is it just pure greed releasing an obvious power creep killer that tops the last one in every way to try and sucker more people out of their money?

I love this new killer! In all the killers backstories they are or used to be a human that got corrupted somehow( minus demo). Its crazy how unnerving dredge is, definitely the most grotesque design since probably blight. I also always wanted a killer that was based of a eldritch/lovecraftian monster and dredge checks those boxes, too. On top of that they gave him his own map and epic music? Definitely one of my favorite killers now

Interesting detail I noticed in it's backstory is that it never mentions or implies that the entity took the dredge into its realm. The fact that the dredge is basically a demonic being worshipped by cults, combined with the fact that it's confirmed there's a cult that worships the entity from way back in twins and Elodie's backstory, makes me think that this could be the physical form that the entity takes in our universe.

Amazing killer. Really fucking cool character design and backstory, and a really unique power. People have been asking for a killer who uses lockers for a long time, I remember a kinda common suggestion for buffing Ghostface way back in his awful PTB was for him to use lockers. So cool to finally see this locker-orientated killer actually come to life, and with THIS guy as well.

Boring and bland would be another killer whose entire thing is having an anti-chase power- Dredge has some of that with his husk-related shit, but that isn’t what he’s about. Which is good because prior to Sadako, anti-chase killers was all we got for a good two years. Having a killer interacting with lockers in the way he does, and how survivors can play around that, is really cool.

I think he’s strong. When they first revealed the recent killed, Onryo, I was underwhelmed. Seeing The Dredge though, I can immediately tell he’s a force to be reckoned with. I think he’s on par with the artist when in the right hands. But time will tell

He's not involved in the cult however, he was a figure of the protagonist's childhood

Sadako might very well be the worst killer in the game or very close to the bottom, and it seems this killer is better than Sadako in pretty much every single way including stealth. Who needs a very limited number of TVs with 60/100 seconds cooldown between uses that might have horrible spread, when you can use literally every single locker on the whole map, have a ridiculous better orientation of the surrounding when leaving one and using them way more frequently.

@@animaIpath it is tho, she is primarily a stealth killer, dredge is not. Onryo is meant to catch people off-guard, which is her main form of injuring survivors and keeping pressure. Her teleporting ability is to slowly add a secondary objective for survivors and to pressure different part of the maps with her stealth. The fact that you literally cannot see or hear her coming(something other stealth killers lack), makes her THE stealth killer of DBD. Stealth isn't really what most players enjoy to play as tho, so people play stealth killers normally and then lose because that's not how you play stealth. Which is fine, stealth isn't exactly the most powerful option to approach for killers, especially when healing is abundant, but that doesn't mean this is a stronger onryo. That's like saying Freddy is a stronger onryo. And Freddy would be closer to onryo as onryo is based on OG Freddy

Then his uncloaking sounds are significantly louder than the manifesting sounds too. You can't hear Sadako untill it's too late. You can still react to Wraith. Which is why Wraith has a massive speedboost upon uncloaking and Sadako does not.

I LOVE this killer, when it was leaked, I wasn't sure if he would be able to hold his own against survivors, but teleporting to lockers mid-chase and teleporting back to the remnant gives him a surprisingly good chase power. More importantly, The Dredge doesn't feel like any of the other killers, as he has so many unique mindgames during chase. The only thing I would change is his white outline during Nightfall. Other than that, this (in my opinion) is the most fun and well-designed killer since The Blight. Great video as always!

Make her condemned status actually lethal. Then it would be all about “gettin grid of condemned” gameplay, which would be quite original and more true to the movie. Make successful teleport within 7 meters apply ALL stacks, BUT condemned status may be lost in chase. As a result, if they get tpd to a survivor and can down them, it would be an instant kill. Would make her much much more horrifying to play against. Counterplay - good looping for 30 seconds/interacting with TV to not get condemned status out-of-chase.

I had an idea for a fun game mode as Dredge to play in custom games: Hide and Seek The dredge picks a locker to hide in. The 4 survivors have to go around the map looking for him in one of the lockers. Whomever finds him is caught by the Dredge and then hooked. He then goes back into hiding again once the person is unhooked. Whomever can be hooked by him 3 times (and thus sacrificed) first wins the game. The Dredge has to go as long as he can without being caught, and can use his additional teleports to escape whenever he thinks someone might check his locker. Therefore, for each time he hides, he gets 2 lifeline teleports to save himself, so he must use them carefully to hide for as long as he can. This would probably work best on larger maps like RPD.

First off before I say smth, Otz ur vids are amazing and you're the main reason I started playing dbd! Keep up the good work :) I wanted to say though, that althought the remnant may seem like a very good way of countering loops, if the dredge walks into it, the remnant disappears and the same thing happens if a survivor walks into as well. It's a strong ability, but easy to counter if survivors double back or the killer accidentally runs through it, sorry for the essay, love ur vids, bye lol :)

Well he's super mobile, can mind game very well on looks during night, his basement response is actually the best in the game at night time, and he can definitely do just fine even when not empowered. Devour hope is gonna be a pain to deal with as he can get to lockers near his hexes easily and get away from hooks in an instant So I think mid A is fine, just above huntress is probably where I'd put him

Here’s an interesting thought: Since keys were basically nerfed to near uselessness without addons, what if survivors could use a key to re-lock a locker that’s had it’s lock broken (at a significant cost of charges/seconds of use)? It won't work, since it'd beaffecting one killer exclusively. Remember the pre-rework slippery meat? It gave you an extra chance to jump off the hook and gave you higher chances to get off the trapper's traps. Bhvr deleted the trapper thing, since it was used occasionally, and it targeted only trapper. But I like the idea, and I'll suggest my thing as well. Instead of keys the survivors could use toolboxes spreaded across the map, (i wouldn't use keys since it's a... Slide lock) And with such toolboxes the survivors could repair the locks. (The survivor can repair an already destroyed lock only once, so if a repaired lock gets destroyed again, it's over). The repairs could take 12 seconds. Revealing the survivor's aura to the killer, and entity blocking the locker the survivor is working on

Enough to see what's immediately in front of you, but not enough to see the next tile over. I think part of the base ability makes it so that you teleport around for positioning and scouting to help with nightfall then when nightfall is active you take that time to chase survivors easier with the power and turn on the add ons. So it’s for travel and building up nightfall then when it’s on you take easier loops with the add ons and the power

I think this killer is pretty good overall. Decent mobility, especially around the map, they can actively look for people and patrol/defend gens quickly. Got some anti-looping power too with the remnant teleport, perks are decent and useful. The Mori is cool too, definitely moving in my top 5 favorite Moris.
