@Tasmanaut Жыл бұрын
@@Cottage-Beats It's not offensive at all, you are actually being respectful. I become offended when people accuse me of having 'talent'. They think it comes easily and naturally, when it has taken me hours upon hours of hard work to polish something to a level that I'm willing to perform it for someone. Some people can't imagine being so dedicated to something and the work that goes into it, I guess. To be fair, a natural aptitude or 'talent' does help and sort of determines your ceiling, and this dude is on another level. I don't actually have much 'talent' at all, just a devotion for what I try to do. Most people could become fairly proficient at music, even without talent, if they were willing to put in the thousands of hours
@TENthe10th Жыл бұрын
@@Tasmanaut Many just confuse talent with passion. Your word really struck a chord with me (pun not intended). I very much dislike beeing called talented since my playing isn't a gifted ability nor even years of music lessons. I read sheet music on a beginner level. But I've played the piano nearly every single day for the last 5 years sometimes for up to 2 hours non stop. Simply because I enjoy it.

Much more than just 8th notes (although a great, experienced bassist will absolutely lay down 8th notes if that's what's best for the song), and no walk in the park! It kind of reminds me of something Wintergatan would write, I LOVE it! Edit: After listening like 20x in a row, I think it would be amazing to hear Charles and Martin collaborate, 2 super talented, creative, and unique composers. And Wintergatan has a fantastic bassist but I feel like that type of outside the box, ambient, mood evoking style is perfect for Charles! I love good musicians who have something to say and aren't constrained by conventions of thinking it has to have mass appeal or be on the radio.
This kind of thing inspires me to expand my 6 string playing. I just started playing 6 string in late 2021 and love the extra high string (I played 5s for 20+ years before pulling the trigger on a 6)

I will say, i have been watching for ages, and think you are inmensely talented, like most people here do. But unbeknownst to me there was a further layer of respect i could feel. Hear me out, sometimes you see these videos where incredibly talented individuals such as yourself want to showcase a quirky device like this one, and they will, by any means necessary put it to display, often times creating a product that is more of a novelty rather than a genuine thought out creative work. When you do these things on the other hand, you make music first and foremost. Beautiful, engulfing phrases that captivate the listener. And to that creation you add the novelty, the freshness. I don't think either of the approaches are bad, i just love the way you take your time to make something special, and pour that much passion in each piece. Music shines when it's filled with emotion, and you certainly achieve that. Kind regards from a heartfelt listener, bravo.
