Playing Chess until I hit 2000: Day 189

What surpises me is the number of book moves in the opening. I've recently got 1300 and I lose opening very often because I know only italian game as white and petrov's defence as black.

Sicilian games are always memorized a ton of book moves. It's one of the reasons I don't like playing them, people know the moves

If you can't find your thing try to open with Pirc Defence most people you'll meet won't know how to play on that.

I can, do you think I should? I didn't think it made much of a difference, I used to do different titles, but it didn't seem to matter, but you might be right

​@@Blunder_Man honestly i think you're getting a bunch of new people, I really liked the thumbnail - just the title is like, well i dont really care if you get to 1700? like I dont know you, or any of the other people who are on the same quest to X rating in X days... like give me a reason to watch :) Maybe carry on doing this if its working, but experiment? It cant hurt to try something new once in a while. Anna's clickbaity titles like "I destroyed this egotistical man in chess" is great because she plays on the fact that she looks like an unassuming person. Usually they are not even that arrogant. I'd probably try a video like "does flaming players in chat make them tilt"? - i dunno something interesting or going low in chess elo --> show different games at different levels from an intermediate persective. We often feel we can relate to people closer to an average rating, rather than a high level game play

It's good to know a bit about different openings, you might then already know what your opponent wants to do!
