a lot of games from 90s you can listen the soundtrack in a regular CD player, GTA1 for PS1 is one of them, and during the game you can swap the game disc for a regular audio CD, and the tracks will play as in-game radio stations

If you play track 1, listen to 0:10. Know what that is, game data. Game data like sounds, people, whatever will be corrupted and the game is dead. Also, not Only the game but CD speakers will blow if you play track 1 too long. Example: sonic would not be normal, could have different colors and missing pieces. So this video shows you what happens with the sound.

if discs do damage themselves by being used then how does PS3 minecraft still work after years? thats because they dont damage themselves and disc issues can only be caused by these factors: - scratches/dirt can cause games to act abnormally, or even to crash - a weak or faulty laser may not be able to read the disc properly, either ends up with a disc read error in the menu or while ingame. - if a disc isnt properly written, data may be damaged upon use (unlikely) - damage to the disc drive's components/drive's structure (motor, ribbon cables, missing plastic pieces) can cause abnormal behavior when reading discs (worn laser may be more likely) - a motherboard fault may potentially cause the disc drive to not function correctly (extremely unlikely, talking about power allocation to drive)

Yeah I grew up in the era of CD videogames and back in the day I wondered how track 1 would sound like too, yet in all CD players I would try (in an audio CD player, in my PC, in the music player of my PlayStation...) I never got to hear anything: either the player automatically skipped to track 2 or it just played track 1 with the sound muted. Despite my age it was only recently that I discovered how it sounds through videos like this.

Sorry I don't get this: audio CD players from the mid 90's onwards were designed to automatically detect data tracks and not play them (either by skipping to the next track or just by muting the sound to avoid this kind of noise). So how come that a dreamcast from the late 90's or early 2000's does play the data track as if it were a sound track? My PlayStation 1 is older and it never played a data track.

My only guess is that the Dreamcast was not designed to mute the game data when reading, probably because the game discs aren’t supposed to be read as music discs. This menu in the video only pops up if you had an audio cd inserted, so why program that detection system in? A scenario like this only occurs when the disc is accidentally read as an audio disc.

This is not what truly happens because you are using a Dreamcast to play it. The Dreamcast recognises you are trying to play the game in music player so it won't corrupt data or blow your speakers like in a real audio disc player

If you have a new radio playing track one won’t work, it will be just silent. Basically if you have a old radio, the radio will try to read the disc then you play track 1, and it plays random ear grating noises, this is because the radio trys to convert the data to music data, and it plays the data.
