@@BradTheAmerican Not to mention there is still some chance when it happens that your running around in a blue jumpsuit that stands out. I'm aware some people replace it quickly. But some don't and with the right quest chains done it is a very solid thing to wear under armor. So it makes marginally more sense than some random person in some random outfit that everybody else instantly recognizes.

@@sam43532 dude the combat is a massive part of those games. Hell it was around half of the gameplay in the OG games (depends on how many random encounters you did). The 3 major parts of a fallout game are exploration, narrative, and combat. Fallout 4 definitely faltered on the narrative bit here and there, but damn did it do a good job at the other two.
@metronicmagician1816
@metronicmagician1816 3 жыл бұрын
@@sam43532 if you’re pulling the not an RPG because it doesn’t “let you role play” you do know the majority of RPG games that exist don’t actually let you role play like that right? In fact a majority of RPGs really only count for RP with their combat. Note Fallout 4’s story doesn’t really hold well because the Institute is laughable so this is far more noticeable, but it’s about on par with other RPGs for how much narrative agency the player has. Seriously games give a lot less player agency than people would like to think even NV for most of its time. This is more on how well NV hides its lack of player agency (since you really only have 1-2 outcomes for most quests) than a positive on fallout 4, but in reality fallout 4 is about the same as most RPGs that exist when it comes to player agency. It just doesn’t hide that fact as well.

Inherently what is a fallout game? What are the critical foundations of gameplay mechanics that make fallout, a fallout game? Everyone wants to include what they think should or should not be in the fall franchise for what we failed to do first and foremost is decide inherently what a true fallout game is. That is what seems to me, is the problem for both Bethesda and Fallout fans, it’s a different boat for different groups, and Bethesda went for the most money
@THECABBAGEMAN19
@THECABBAGEMAN19 3 жыл бұрын
And to be fair, fallout 4’s world is quite expansive and well designed. To not credit Bethesda for the world they created would be naive, just because it isn’t filled with amazing story and factions does not mean the world isn’t amazing. It’s sad how much the Commonwealth is brought down by the lacking of RPG elements and good story.
@mykeh3155
@mykeh3155 3 жыл бұрын
@@THECABBAGEMAN19 I see that same thing all the time and it always bothers me, people just seem to dictate how a franchise should be based on the game they enjoyed the most, not realising that a different game under the same franchise doesn’t mean the same or even similar experience. Bethesda want to experiment, want to make new things instead of repeating the old, that means there will be things vets wont like, but also potentially new things they do like. Makes me sad that they get so much hate for trying new things even though we despise all the games that repeat themselves with each title, just doesnt make sense to me. I love fallout 4 for the world, the design, the things you can do and many of the smaller stories. Main story was meh but I didn’t care, it only affects the overall experience when you let it. I thought the perk system was better, sure it was presented in a linear way but it made things much easier to plan out in game as I was playing and let me enjoy the game at a pace I wanted, not something I could say about playing NV. Fallout NV (currently replaying) was ok at best for me, its dialogue wasnt interesting, often just ended abruptly or had characters that started dialogue only to give you the same options over and over whilst acting like its the first time each time you speak to them. The world was empty, the combat was boring (and I dislike using vats), even the quests felt cheesy at times. The beginning of the game is the part I dislike the most, it’s just too slow and empty, much more tedious than the intro and first few quests of 4 IMO. I even rate 76 as a better game than NV purely because I get drawn in by the lore and want to keep exploring, but the lore is just so thin in NV that I get burnt out so quickly. That being said, they are all good games, I enjoy all of them and sink a lot of hours into each, some people just see criticism of their favourite game as slander. And yet saying this usually ends up with some dumb argument about how I’m not a fallout fan or something lmao.

The entire plot for synths in FO4 is basically "I'm a synth, I want to be free. Treat me as you would everyone else so we can be equal" Then theres Kasumi who immediately decides she should be segregated from her own family because shes believes shes a synth and goes on about how she should be with her own kind regardless if they still love her or not Weird tbh
@nathanclark2424

Come to think of it, wouldn't Kasumi had to have been replaced fairly recently? If synths don't gain weight or grow or age, then it would be obvious within about a year or so. And even sooner if you notice they don't sleep. I get Kasumi herself doubting whether she's a synth, but wouldn't the people around her notice that she doesn't gain weight or age? I'm fairly certain that if Kasumi is a synth, then she must have been replaced within a year of the DLC taking place, because any time longer than that just becomes more and more suspect. This is bad writing. This is awful. The more I think about the story of Fallout 4, the less I can think. It's as if I'm LOSING knowledge the more I read about it.

You do know the majority of RPGs have a set backstory and fate of their character right? Like it’s not that common for your character to be a complete blank slate. Hell even NV still has a lot of backstory and fate for the courier (being a mailman for the NCR controlled territories), and it’s probably one of the better examples of a blank slate protagonist. Also having a complete blank slate of a protagonist doesn’t make it any better. Look at Skyrim, true blank slate of a character yet it doesn’t really make its RPG elements any better.

Honestly, I liked Fallout 4 more for the gameplay than the story anyway. I still play it pretty regularly from time to time and have ever since it came out because there's nothing that's come out in all this time that scratches that itch as Fallout 4 does. It's really the same thing with Skyrim, there's just really no good substitute for games like that. Sure there are games that have come out since then that are _kind of_ like Fallout, and _kind of_ like Skyrim, but none of them really hit the mark. There's just really nothing else to play, unfortunately, I mean what else is there? These games are in a weird niche where they are really flawed, and it's really obvious, even to people who enjoy them, and yet they're really addicting at the same time. For me, RPG games that have come out in the past few years have all been pretty mediocre and not all that entertaining, certainly nothing that would hold my attention for hundreds of hours.

Its always going to be all about "NV" is better than this and that, about not getting over an old game, comparing the same shit under the same title made by the same people blah blah blah. All the hate fo4 gets are mostly coming from the people who kept reminiscing NV for its storyline. I've played fo1 3 and NV, and i think 4 did great cmpared to the old games (well except the dialogues were kinda Lacking) but still 4 was waaay ahead of the old games.
