Kraken was used in the start of split 2 because you had so much healing from runes so you didn't need any lifestyle until very late in the game But later all those healing runes got nerfed a lot As a result kraken wasn't that good Now in split 3 it's shit after the nerfs on it's passive It lost so much damage it's not worth to build anymore

It gives you Hp and attack speed and ad (obviously) but most importantly you can EQ-*whip* and get a movespeed burst to continue kiting or stick to someone your chasing.
