I've once had a location 300m away from my home. Granted, I was playing a Germany map back when only 20 cities were covered. But if you compare the area of that 300m circleto the cocered area, this is still only roughly a 1/15000 chance of such a close location. I'd say I've played ~60 Games on Germany maps back when only 20 cities were covered. That would give a chance of ~2% of such a close location, which actually sounds pretty plausible

Funnily enough, a number of years ago in one of your videos, the exact stop that I used to get off at for university, which is part of this line that was shown in this video, showed up too. This happened to me once and here's the funny story behind it: About 2 years ago I stayed in Norway for a holiday for 2 weeks and played the Norway map to improve my knowledge on it as I travelled the real country. Well just 2 rounds in I come across a road I not only drove on the prior(!) day but also spawned in the exact location where I decided to spend half an hour and climb up a hill (for the views)... Will never forget that 😂
@zackrog127011 ай бұрын
The odds of that happening must be astronomical. Norway is a really beautiful place. I just visited my brother in Lofoten this summer and hiked the hill behind his house. I met some sheep along the way and cooked some hot dogs at the summit. I rode his e-bike back to my air bnb on the coast by the low light of the midnight sun.

Didn't take me long in my geoguessr 'career' to find a place I had been. Just for kicks I tried a US only game with no moving. 2nd location was right next to an apartment I lived in 10 years ago. The initial view was a shopping center right next to the apartment complex and I immediately recognized it. And when I turned there was my old home. And not just 'I can see my building' but I could see the actual apartment I lived in because it was the first building that faced the road. It's the only time I've ever gotten 5000 on no-moving and will probably be the only time I get it in 10 seconds.

@findmeinthefuture.11 ай бұрын
One potentially interesting variation on this would be to play a game of Geoguessr where you're only allowed to drop your pin on places you've been irl, so you can only get a perfect score if it's a place you've been (and you guess it right, ofc), and otherwise in order to maximize points you have to figure out what the closest location is that you've actually been. E.g., in this video's rounds, you would get a perfect score for that last one, but for the London one you'd have to click a mile or so away and lose a few points. (And for something like Japan you'd be cursed to get 0 points.) Then you can set a goal of a certain total score and play until you reach it.

Used to live in Tredegar, Wales, so been on that very road in Merthyr going to the lovely Brecon mountain railway, after 10 years of delay and disorder,😅 the A465 will become the road it needed in the '70s. Mum now lives on the Gold coast, so been to all the theme parks there especially Dreamworld, and have been to Dublin, catching the ferry from Hollyhead, so been on the A55. Love watching lots of Welsh stuff, seeing as I live in New Zealand now, where I watched people who did the 'Coast to Coast' challenge arrive yesterday at New Brighton pier. I live in Ottawa and I'm not sure I've ever been on that stretch of Primrose Avenue (between Empress and Arthur) seen at 8:33. I've been very close to it since it's just a block south of Albert Street, which used to be the main east-west bus artery through that part of central Ottawa (between the central bus Transitway and the split with Slater Street) before the LRT opened, but I never really had a reason to go a block south. I've probably been close to that street in Paris earlier in the video but I have visited Paris only once, in 1997, and, unless it's a street with a major station or landmark on it or a street seen in one of the disposable camera photos I took, I can't say with any reliability whether I've been on it or not.
