A month before Dusherra, workers residing in predominantly migrant neighbourhoods across Delhi start gathering in the evenings to rehearse for the Ramleela - a theatrical production of the Ramayana. In the Nav Adarsh Kala Mandal troupe, which performs in Malka Gaj in Delhi, nearly 50 percent of the actors and production crew are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, as are the musicians for the live orchestra. Together they recreate and connect with life back home, in the villages they migrated from.
