Cool playing! Toots stuck to a C, right?

Yes from mid 60s and onwards. Before that he played A and G chromatics besides. He like the Db and Ab keys on C and those becomes Bb and F on A and Ab and Eb on G.

Which is better for playing (listening) jazz, a G or C tuned chromatic harmonica? Thanks
@FilipJersMusic7 ай бұрын
Does not matter really. The C is another register, so it will play higher up in the register. If you transcribe lots of other chromatic harmonica players, there is big chance that they will be using a C. But the notes are basically the same, just the G goes lower and C gors higher.

@@FilipJersMusic Do you prefer a G-tuned to an orchestra-tuned? Personally, I got a couple of orchestra-tuned and I enjoy the lower notes, while not missing the high ones too much and keeping the same layout as a C.

I am really confused. I am new to the world of harmonica. I was under the impression that only the diatonic harmonicas were in different keys ( I current have a C harp) and I thought the chromatic harmonicas had 64 reeds and therefore played in every key, I would like to purchase a chromatic but am currently very confused
@FilipJersMusic7 ай бұрын
Yes the 64 reed chromatic come in C but 48 reed chromatic come in various Keys. Most common is the C but G, A and D are also common.
