In my opinion, the start screen was very nice, especially when we set the application background the same as the desktop background. the screen of all applications is very interesting and in my opinion it is easier to find the application you are looking for than in windows 10. it is a pity that Microsoft will no longer provide further security updates because I use it all the time on a daily basis on a laptop without a touchscreen

Windows 8.1 is one of my favourite operating systems of all time. I'm very happy you did a video about it as I sometimes use Windows 8.1 in daily life. Windows 8.1 is close to my heart as it was BRAND NEW when I was very young. I also love the metro UI as it is almost refreshing to see constant live tiles. Edit: The Windows 8.1 start screen actually reminds me of the 2012 Xbox 360 home screen, another staple of my childhood.

Windows 8.1 still stands strong and in my and many people's books is the last good windows version, other's just...... you can say ruined performance and also i am planning to still use 8.1 after its end of support, because really once an os ends support, if the os was appriciated (in the case of 8.1) then most software vendors will support it for 7 years alteast after its End of support deadline (this is the case with windows 7 mind you)

I think in the beginning there part of your problem is running the game at 2880x1529. That resolution is far too high for the intel iGPU to handle, and honestly it did a pretty good job considering the resolution. oh and full screen not working is likely because of the scaling within windows. Minecraft really doesn't respond well to anything above 100% scaling. Also, that GTX 1060 you mentioned at the end of the video is a pretty good match for this CPU I would say. Maybe you could even try some shaders on it?

I do like Windows 8.1, as it runs better than Windows 10 on lower end hardware. Like, for example, my old laptop with a 1.7 GHz Pentium M, 2 GB DDR2, and a 2.5" IDE HDD. It can run Windows XP, Vista, and 7. Windows 8.1 32 Bit runs on it, it uses about 500 MB RAM, and it is decent, and still gets updates. Windows 10 32 Bit only runs on the version 1607, which came out in 2016, no newer versions work. You can't boot a newer ISO from a USB or DVD without a instant blue screen, which you can't get past. And Window's updates doesn't help either. A long time ago it said it fixed a problem, and it allowed me to update to version 20H1, but after a few months it blue screened, and didn't ever get back to the desktop. I tried to reinstall the 1607 version, and it never updated to the newest 20h1 ever again. It's odd. Since then I just have Windows 8.1 on it. I should note, Windows 8, 8.1, and Windows 10 don't work with the Intel 915 GM IGPU, even in compatibility mode.

I installed windows 11 on same specs, it ran faster than 8.1, maybe cause i used a custom lite build (tiny11). Try it yourself, ms said its gonna lose support in January 2023.

I think arch would be hard for him due to the docs and the main process of downloading it. It is quite simple if you have good knowledge about linux. If not i think he should use fedora (xfce plasma version) or manjaro, Debian is also a good idea manjaro also.

If you want simple easy archlinux installer just boot into arch live cd then Type archinstall press enter configure the setting if you’re done confirm installing then wait until done! I might make a video about the command and you watch my video but not yet until I finish my vacation

Windows 8.1 is far more better than windows 10. On some games it runs better due to it being more optimized and not full of bloatware like windows 10. But i still use windows 10 due to program compabitility

Windows 8.1 is the best os for me! super snappy even with hdd , everything works and amazing , even without touch, but now i upgraded to Windows 10 , because apps will not be supported on Windows 8.1 and below and security updates ends on January 2023, if you have a low and tablet with 8.1 its is best to upgrade to windows 10 ltsc👍

Arch Linux is cool, but the installation is not the most user friendly. Even with Archinstall it's still command line based. I recommend EndeavourOS instead. It's based off arch but way more user friendly with a graphical installer and some goodies in their repo.

Try install 8.1 on minimally Kaby lake processor I've been playing games on 8.1 for few years because 10 were unstable. It was nice with buttside of popup warning that it's not build for that processor. I finally upgrade to 10 to claim my whole kaby(because 3rd party update/security discontinue Jan 1st 2023), it gave so many crushes only to find out you didn't agree to NEW terms from nvidia update, in few days row apart.....
