It was a joy to hang out with you guys and play through that amp! I completely get why the tweed Bassman is such a legendary amp, it made every guitar sound great.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say it was a really informative experience. We all watch a lot of demo and shootout videos, but to be able to play all of these great guitars and amps live and at full volume was a day for the books! The audio is a pretty reasonable approximation to how it sounded in the room. Much better than a lot of demo videos we see!

Sounds absolutely amazing with the Jazzmaster! Everything sounded great, but that stood out. You might have a cooler amp collection than me? Maybe! We should merge them together someday for vintage amp super army!

@YeatzeeGuitar Do your know if the ‘59 Bassman tested had a pair of 5881 or 6L6 power tubes?

@@drwdnk7447 yeah it's my amp, there's a whole series on it linked in the description. It's got JJ 5881's

Nice! Can you share what settings are needed to achieve thick overdrive and how loud that ends up being in the room? Especially if you have access to a DB meter. Would be interesting. Especially too if you plan on attenuating it and comparing it to non attenuated tones in future for comparable breakup but at a reasonable volume. I think volume is the real issue these days with such great gear. Cheers!

Treble and presence were around 3 for most of it, it sounded much clearer in person. In the recording it could probably have used some more top end. Middle around 9 out of 12, bass around 4. Volume anywhere from 1/3 to 2/3 up, both channels used with different guitars. It's not a quiet amp, but also not brutally loud like some of the others. Notice I had my hearing protection out for this amp, but definitely had it in for others. Running an attenuator with a Bassman is tricky, they use 4 rca jacks so you'd have to build a harness. We'll see what I do
@mrgroo5 күн бұрын
cool thanks for the info. I bought the Bassman attenuator harness from Weber which is an easy ready made one if you’re being lazy like me 😉

Did you use pedals?
@YeatzeeGuitar5 күн бұрын
@mixchifius Nope. Guitar > cable > amp

Pedals? That would be a crime in a sound test like this! …though I’m sure the amp would sound killer with anything up front. :)
