The uneven number of carts behind your train prevents you from being able to fill it up 50% coal and 50% iron all the way. You have 11 carts, go 10 or 12 to maximize use. Cheers! * I guess you realized it in the end, nevermind then!

@wta15183 жыл бұрын
What I use is a simple system of [type] {town > town} material {+ material} {#} with [G] meaning truck (ground) [B] meaning bus or tram [I] meaning intercity busses [T] meaning passenger train [C] meaning cargo train [W] meaning passenger boat (water) [S] meaning cargo boat (sea) [P] meaning passenger plane [A] meaning cargo plane (air) an example of this would be [C] Boston Bricks or [B] Boston 1. It means that each line is grouped by type when put in alphabetical order, as well as by what it's transporting. (side note: I only put the town names in passenger lines or delivery lines.

a naming system that i've seen others use and that i found quite useful myself is to specify the lines with RC (road cargo), TC (train cargo), RP (road passengers), TP (toilet paper i mean train passengers), etc. depending on how you want to organize your lines you can do it in different ways like, "RC Midland crude oil", "crude oil Midland RC", "Midland RC crude oil" you get the idea. it's a pretty uncomplicated shorthand and i recommend it!
@wta15183 жыл бұрын
I prefer to use single-letter prefixes because they make it easier to see which is which, and I also put the [type] in brackets so that any unnamed lines stand out well to reming me to name them.
@ArxInvicta4 жыл бұрын
I used that map size too - it allows you to encounter a pretty annoying "bug" (more of a game limitation though) - lines can not take "too much time" (In TF1 it was a kilometer distance, around 15-20km, in TF2 time is the critical factor). If they are longer, they'll simply not work. Its a problem usually not noticable in normal games but if you use the "experimental map sizes" you will run into that - just as a heads up, since that ruined my game when I tried it. Not sure if there is a workaround though, maybe someone else here has more informations.

suggestion for the train! when you drop off iron and coal you can take the steel back with you and then ship both plastics and steel to the goods factory, as well as just steel to the tools factory that's near the plastics factory. if steel needs a different train car type it might get a bit inconvenient though, so perhaps it would be better to have it as a separate line. but since you're already producing steel and have places to deliver it to nearby, i think it could be a good expansion! really excited for more Transport Fever!!! the map is amazing, lots of long distance travel opportunities!

TC: Train Cargo, TPX: Train Passengers; BC:: Boat Cargo, etc; FPX: Flight Passanger, etc.; APX INT CCW New York: Auto(mobile) passanger (Bus), internal line, counterclockwise, New York.

For the naming system I think I have come up with a system that works for me, and it’s pretty easy (I think at least) what you have a lot of lines. I never remember the city names anyway, especially when there is a lot of them. I keep all lines for one specific production chain starting with the same number. And passenger lines starting with the specific form of transport. Example Industries: 1. Crude oil > oil refinery 1. Refined oil > fuel refinery 1. Fuel > city name And then a different number for every production chain. Cuz I normally don’t use the same supplier for than one consumer. If you want to be extra specific you can put the form of transportation in brackets after the number as well. Passenger: Train = T Tram = Tr Buss = B Plane = P Example T. Midland > Evansville If it continues I just add on cities. Ps. Love the transport fever series! 🚗🚚🚋🚈✈️
@wta15183 жыл бұрын
6:24 1) fewer 2) another benefit is that they spend less time in transit, which gives you more money per delivery, because the cost is calculated based on these factors: 1) distance (not route distance, but the straight distance from the supplier to the consumer.) 2) speed 3) amount (duh)
@TheCriminalViolin3 жыл бұрын
My naming system I always use is the letter or first letters of the closest town to the stop, and then for industrial lines, I add the cargo type to it or the type of facility. For passenger lines, it's the same for the first half of it (city first letter or first two-three if other towns share the same first or both first and second letters) and then the line number (so 1, 2, 3, 4, etc). My exception to these rules is with the name, as if a town name is short, I'll typically just input that town's name into it instead, especially if it is an important one on the map and for my networks.

E.g :with Jackson west and Williams street with the use of crude oil transportation . It makes (using the terms above) : Jack-William’s Crude oil. I hope this helps.

Also, when you tell a train to get 50% full. It'll load exactly half of its capacity regardless of what goods it's picking up. So if you want it to carry half a load of coal and half a load of iron you need the first stop to load 50% and the second to load 100%. That way you'll vat a full train of coal and iron where each one is half capacity

The high speed US trains are really difficult to run profitably, Even more so than the Asian or European trains, So they tend to need extra long distances between stops: Even with a moderately full train, I found that unless they were reaching Top Speed it was very hard to make a profit. What I found can work well Is if you have commuter trains that lead to a big city station where the Sims (?) will transfer to a high speed train to go long distance

Hey @Flabaliki, now I'm downloading this game after I see your video. I'm curious, rather than using/build new roads, is it possible to transport the goods through water by ship? Then in the drop off port, we can connect it with several choice of transports such as train or truck to nearest city or industry. I think it will save more money.
@wta15183 жыл бұрын
the issue is that ports and ships are extremely expensive (a port costs anywhere from 200k if you get optimal placement for a small port to 700k for decent placement of a large port, and a single ship will set you back 200k) for something that is painfully slow (around 20 km/h). Because of the way the game calculates prices, getting goods delivered faster gives you exponentially more money.
