There’s more going on in that chorus too, the bass note walks down from the C to the Am with the hammer ons and pull offs on the B string there as well. Then once you get into verse 2&3 the guitars are layered up massively with lovely little note bend riff and the chords get more percussive. It’s actually a very interesting song to play from start to finish once you delve into it.

One of my all time faves, Ryan. Been rocking those open chords for years but looking forward to trying this approach over the weekend. Sounds great.

The hammer-on guitar part was originated by producer Daniel Lanois. Per Wikipedia: "While working with Lanois in the studio on a vocal overdub, Bono suggested Lanois "play a little guitar part to try and juice [him] up". Lanois subsequently took Bono's green Gretsch guitar and played a hammer-on part that was included in the final version of the song."

First time caller. Those were the best voicings I've seen. They sound accurate. I used to play/sing this in a band and I worked out the outro guitar part w/ echo. Super cool triads and I think it is behind the beat which is a little more tricky. Edge is truly a musical scientist. That's what Bono calls him.

Are you me?😕 I have a theory on this. Stuff that’s really hard to play takes longer to learn and gets ingrained into your brain. I can pick up a guitar and play the intro from “Little Wing” after 6 months without playing it and remember every bit. Because it took me ages to learn to play it. But stuff that is easy, you run through so quick that it doesn’t stick. Play it a few times, move onto something else, realise a few weeks later that you haven’t played it since and now you’ve forgotten it completely.

Ryan my good friend, 👍 can you please do me the honor of finding out how Tom Petty finger picks Angel Dream, now I use Travis picking for it, which works pretty well, and he plays it as we all know with the Capo on the 5th, but the sequencing for his finger picking the actual song, on all parts appears to be done with just two fingers, and three at the most, and in a weird pattern, but ofcourse not too dissimilar to the Travis one, but enough of a difference for me to keep going out of time whilst playing along to it with the standard Travis pattern?? Please please please please please please pleeeeease, help. And could you give me a massive shout out, and send me some of your love!! It would make my day, my week and my year!!
