after playing for a long time, you get used to it. when i started every engagement was scary af.

The way to do it is to remind yourself this is a videogame where a hundred people who enjoys to recreationally make-belief murder one another jumps out of a airplane to do just that. Most of these people will be at least semi-proficient in conducting this activity so you getting killed by someone is always the expected outcome. Just get into the habit of being happy playing the hand you're dealt to the best of your abilities and seek pleasure in honing your bag of tricks by learning from your mistakes. Even the times you get out-skilled by someone quicker or zerged by numbers etc there is usually things you could have done to increase chances of getting a better drop on them. Habitually thinking about what those things might have been in the face of failure will turn you into a calmer and more collected player.

I've found this to be true of every PvP focused multiplayer game I've ever played and the only thing that's worked for me is to just...keep making yourself play more and more games. You'll hit a point where playing starts to feel a lot more routine, and you don't get worked up about situations because you've been through them before.

On-topic: I have pondered on this same question many times. Its only possible to train to stay calm, and playing the game for a very long time also only have small effects on the calmness. The answer to your question is most likely that some people have that calmness in their dna. Simply put. I bet my left foot that all of these pro-gamers, would make excellent poker players, e.g. Its in their dna, not to get all wounded up when the heat is on them. Lucky bastards lol. Life is truly a lottery, who gets lucky at the gene lottery in the very beginning of human life.
