I played 2023 Yamaha Montage M8x and I must say I was completely blown away by the sounds coming out of that machine! So many upgrades from the old Montage. No need to say more, just seat back and listen with a good pair of headphones.

Does it Have all the sounds of the Montage/Motif XF/XS, ES, S90? Which are the sounds that people like me want to use. The new sounds are a bonus, but if it does not have what I call the Yamaha bread and butter, then it is a waste of time. All the old Yamaha Motif Sounds, and some of the Montage sounds are great, classics. The Montage M sounds are a bonus. For some us where it is at - is the pianos,acoustic pianos, electric pianos, and any evocative sounds, especially for ballads, like the old Ballad piano in the Motif series, and the S90 pianos. That last piano on this video is definitely nice to hear, sounds like one the new Montage M acoustic pianos - very cut through the mix kind of piano. As soon as I can afford one, if it has all the Montage., and older Yamaha sounds, them the Montage M is a nice to have. On another video someone was complaining that it does not have the old performances of the Montage !! Is this true. 1st may I commend you, I like your sound - i.e your harmonic and melodic grasp of the piano, I enjoyed listening to you. Are you NIgerian by any chance, even though you do not play like most Nigerian keyboard players, - more like an American gospel keyboard player.

Hi steve are the weighted keys do they have a light feel to them, when i had the motif xf i found them a little hard wonder if this keybed with poly aftertouch was any different ? Thanks

Sounds great. I have a Korg Kronos and a Nautilus but thinking of trading them both in for one of these.

Keep one of the Korgs for the Setlist. I am truely blown away with the Synth textures and the Quality of the new Piano's. I have a Kronos 2 73 myself and It's still able to run circles around Yamaha in some areas. Would kill for a M7X version tho 🙂 It's definetly much more than "just" a Montage refresh Even I could have wanted Yamaha to design a new VLSI with more horsepower and larger memory adress range, instead of reusing the old ones and just added a couple more. The Kronos and Montage M still is a great combo just for the greater flexibility in the Kronos as a master controller.

Does the keybed feel like an acoustic piano? Also, do the pianos sound thin to you? That was a problem in the last montage.

The keybed has wonderful action. Feels just as good as Kawai keybed (which I feel are the best) This recording sounds like it's in mono. The pianos sound much richer in stereo output

Is it just me that the pianos at the beginning all sound too metallic or like there is EP or pad sound on the background? I tested this at the shop as well and i could not find "acoustic" or authentic piano sounds. Somehow all pianos had some EP sound especially when i hit high notes

What exactly are you after? It can be programmed to make any crazy sound you want. However, it’s human nature to try and mimic natural sounds and put an electronic synthesized twist to it. Then there’s the case that retro analog sounds of 4 decades ago is very popular now. Your question is a bit too broad to give a very succinct answer.

I still have my Yamaha MO8 & Yamaha XS6. You usually end up with a few new things mixed with known previous sounds. That's why I kept my Yamaha. They sound good and I can run it through software to switch it up or layer with anything I can think of that fits my style of music. This sounds good, but unless I come across one for a incredible discount I will not be getting one at this time. Still a Yamaha fan. Nice demo.

@@Thunder-sf4qy Cool but I'm not referring to what you mention and that's fine, but we're in 2023 and I'm just asking why they can't develop machines that produce sounds that we've never really heard, electronic sounds that are really innovative and not always little organs, electric feet, 4 violins. and an Oberheim pad... there is nothing else in the sound universe for Yamaha, Korg, Roland, etc. to innovate?

@@axelmaldini4218 Have you played one yet and made some of your own sounds and not just what you’ve heard on KZbin? It’s quite capable. It’s all about processing power and memory and cost. Much of what you hear is due to lack of creative ability and/or catering to a certain market and recording industry standard. Which the later is presently desperately sucking.

I read your reference to the Kawai keybeds.. I don't have a Kawai reference, but maybe you have knowledge of the Yamaha CP88, and that keybed... Similarities, better, worse, same???

I find the new keyboard nice, but slow and not so responsive. the after touch does nothing for me, you have to press way to hard. the screen should display AT so you know what sounds have this feature///// this one is going back and im getting the 61 keys

It seems he’s playing (very skilled) but sounds very gm sounds even motif xf or Roland’s sound better. Maybe he choose them bad. I’m waiting for Genos 2 to come. This m8x not sounding pro at all. Saw a demo from other player and sounded better the sounds but not the playing
