Band or something? A full song somewhere? You’re blowing my mind, I usually watch a lot of ichika, Manuel Gardner Fernandez, Charlie Robbin’s etc. but this shit is top shelf, I need more.

I just noticed that as you play this riff in particular, you anchor your pinky finger to the guitar.... I also anchor my pinky to the guitar, and have from my own self taught start.... It has been a real challenge lately trying to "reprogram" my picking hand to not need that anchor point to attempt hybrid picking (picking notes with the pick and finger(s) at the same time).... You are the first guitar player that I have noticed do this (besides me).... So opinion, pinky finger anchor point, is this a good or bad habit....? =)
@nates28 ай бұрын
One day that pinky will come in handy. I had the same habit, just go play fingerstyle for a month and then go hybrid pick again.
@louis_barras8 ай бұрын
Not a bad habit at all imo, but a problem I see very often with my students when it's about hybrid picking is the way they "open" their middle finger to make it full straight before attacking with it, and it demands to shift your hand to leave a space for it. Maybe that's why you feel the need to remove that pinky but it's probably more about the middle (and ring) finger position 👍

@@louis_barras Super good to know, because I never noticed anyone using an anchor point, so I was surprised to have noticed that you did.... I was just thinking that I was doing it wrong till now.... It almost more feels unsecure to be un-anchored....!? That is what it feels like I need to work passed.... I actually play with my right (strumming) hand open, and play an 8 string.... When I feel I need to un-anchor my pinky, it so my ring and/or middle finger can reach the strings to be plucked, then back to the pinky safe zone....! I have noticed that most guitarists make like a flat fist (knuckle joints straight, but all other finger joints bent 90*) when the hold the pick and play.... Seems my open hand strumming/picking and pinky anchor may be to my advantage, so let's just leave off the part where I cradle the neck with my thumb and we can call it a day.....? 😆

Yeah well, there are no strict rules actually. If you try to formulate a rigid theory on how it should be done, there are always plenty of examples that can prove you wrong. So, in the end, it's just... "If it works, it works" haha@@pamelaa4010
