I was able to get all the treasure. 98 percent, but i missed out on the 3rd onion across the lake. It takes 20 to collect, but the lake required 30 to freeze. Ran out of time to cheese it and it fell into the lake. I wonder what's gonna happen to it now?

I know everyone hates the tutorial and I do too (especially after replaying it multiple times to get 100% first area in the demo 😵‍💫) but honestly I’ll take it. It’s clear this game is being pushed and marketed more than any other Pikmin game ever has before. Gotta train the newbies and help make sure they don’t get frustrated and leave. I’ll gladly take a hand holdy tutorial if it means we get more Pikmin fans long term

@@shadowthief6471 Just have him go in the water once, at any point, so the "Oh no, [x] can't swim!" scene plays. (He can't learn it if he's still "small", but it can still be triggered if he went into the water while he was "small".) As long as he was in the water at some point, then he'll always learn it 2 days after he's had his growth spurt. (Which happens after you've saved 1 Castaway, btw.) You can get it as soon as Day 4 if you play your cards right.

I don't know if Arlo discovers it later in the playthrough but Dismiss and Dismiss All ARE there from the beginning but they are in the shortcuts options for your D-Pad for whatever reason and they never explain that those options are there. They just expect you to mess around with it and find out, that is something I hope they fix.

The tutorial does explain how shortcuts work, but not all the shortcuts are available at the start since… you know, you don’t have access to those abilities. If you drag your feet on the demo, then one of the end of day conversations is reminding you to update your shortcuts since you would have unlocked more at that point. I think the in-game explanation is satisfactory.

1:42:40 As I tried to tell you on your Hotel Transylvania video. The vast majority of improvement that game had on the Pikmin formula was ripped straight from Overlord 1 and 2. If you've never played those games I heavily recommend you to try them Arlo. The best way to describe the games is if the Fable series and Pikmin had a child together.

You can actually get the blue onion, [Spoilers ahead], If you get both flarlics in the area and take out all 40 pikmin, 30 of which must be Ice, and upgrade oatchies buff to level 3 where he can carry things with a weight of 10, you can freeze the pond and use oatchie and the other ten pikmin to get it across the pond. (Or small puddle from human perspective)

you can also just upgrade oatchi's carrying ability to 4 as well! (20 carry weight) so you dont need the second flarlic to get it (but it costs more of your currently limited pup drive)

there was one thing idk if anybody has noticed but the pellet posey actually will only change between colors that are currently on the field. for example once you got the yellow onion and have both red and yellows out they will swap between red and yellow but if you only have yellows out itll stay yellow!

I think you could’ve gotten the Blue onion early if you upgraded the amount that Oatchi can grab. Maxing its grab to 10 would then only require you to use 10 pikmin to get the blue onion moving, which you could’ve done after that second flarlic upgrade

Fun fact, ice pikmin dropping from a panicked oatchi consistently enter the "drowning" state. I dont know why at all, but they do drown eventually. Thankfully this doesnt happen once oatchi learns to swim

I did manage to get everything that's obtainable in the demo. I had to be super careful. I brought all the stuff near the base, but not into it, got the upgraded carry capacity for Oatchi, and ended day 7 with 1,490 sparklium. On the 8th day I grabbed the stuff I left near the base and jumped into the last few caves. I had just enough time. (A few of the items I brought near the base first did return to their starting locations, but they were the least far items so it was fine.)

It's actually possible to get the Blue Onion in the demo if you don't hit the 1500 Sparklium limit too soon. You either need Oatchie to have 10 strength and both Fllarlics or have 1 Flarlic and invest to the point of Oatchie having 20 strength. You can get to the Onion down to the lower ledge either by throwing Pikmin to the Onion like you did or building the wall and quickly climbing up with the Ice Pikmin before it thaws. You can then use 30 Ice Pikmin to freeze the water and then have Oatchie hop up onto the ledge (with 10 Pikmin if necessary) letting you carry the Blue Onion back.

Blue Pikmin on day 2 is impossible. You can't upgrade Oatchi's carrying capacity until day 3, neither can you build the clay bridge you'd to get to Dandorimar's cave in order to throw Pikmin over the wall to dig the blue onion out.

I was a little worried when I first began watching this. Worried I wouldn't be able to pull out 100 pikmin of a single type or being limited to what I can take out. But honestly, upgrading the Onion feels a lot more rewarding, and it gives a challenge along the way. I wasn't before this, but after playing the demo OH. My. GOODNESS. am I excited for Pikmin 4, it's jumped to the TOP of my priorities. It is funny though, in the demo it seems to want to give you the tutorial for items with the scrummy bone, but I didn't get it there, I got that tutorial when I found some Spicy Berry juice, man, this DEMO just kept amazing me with how fun it was.

So for those curious to fully complete the demo one thing is needed to be done and thats specifically increasing oatchis carry strength to 10(Buff Lvl.3) or more otherwise the only way to get the blue onion is to cheese it with using rush to push it

I don't know if it's necessarily "retconning". When he lands in the living room he says "this is different than the other areas we've explored" so it's possible he is referring to his past experiences on the planet. I think they might just be introducing the planet/pikmin to newer players who haven't played Pikmin yet.

That is the Dolphin 1, he specifically says (both in the Voyage Logs and the intro) that this is his first time experiencing Pikmin. This is his first time on the planet. Now is it a full retcon? Personally I think there's something wacky going on. If Nintendo were deleting 1-3 from the continuity, they would not have just given us 1+2 and asked us to play them. You don't show a bunch of newcomers the start of the series just for the new game to reboot the franchise for newcomers. I suspect there's much more to this plotline than meets the eye

@@TheDinosaurHead Pikmin 3, Deluxe's Side Stories, and Hey! Pikmin heavily imply that he has no desire to leave the company and is seemingly content with his new ship, the Dolphin 2. It's possible I missed something in 3 Deluxe that implies he might wish to get his old ship back, but I don't believe that's the case. Regardless of the Dolphin question though, his voyage logs are still very clear that this is a first visit, and even if they weren't, he should be experienced enough by this point to not need to be rescued by people who have never set foot on this planet. Olimar is PNF-404 expert if this is post 3, and OC should not be allowed to out dandori him

Hotel Transylvania 3 wasn't the first Pikmin-like to have upgrades for how many followers you can have at once. The Overlord series did that as well. (Overlord - June 2007, Overlord II - June 2009, & Overlord: Dark Legend - June 2009) Overlord & Overlord 2 add minions in increments of +5. Dark Legend added +2 & +3 every other upgrade... If you haven't played them, I'd recommend trying the first two (after you've completed Pikmin 4, of course), and ignoring Dark Legend (and the two later spinoffs that aren't pikmin-likes). In them you play as an evil overlord in a fantasy setting with a bunch of minions. Dark Legend is a slightly more fairy tale setting. They're comedic games. I don't want to say anything more than that in case you try them out. If you try just one of them, Overlord II is the better game and doesn't require prior knowledge of the first Overlord game.

Long time fan of your videos, I played Pikmin 1 back on the Gamecube as a kid and had a lot of fun, never got to play the second one. Played this demo and loved it and now I just picked up the bundle! Looking forward to playing the entire series :)

I like the idea of the Pikmin 1 bad ending happening but I don't like it erasing the other games. It's why I didn't buy Hyrule warriors Age of Calamity and one of my main issues with StarFox Zero
