My husband was in Viet Nam in 1967-68 and requested this in a bar because he told me one of his fellow soldiers asked them all to request this song when they got home, to remember him, because he was injured and they were under fireso were not able to evacuate him on time, so they all sat with him while he died. My husband did make it home but was killed 10 years later
