Thank you very much for this great lesson, a gentle approach, very well described and precise at the same time which gives full meaning to the world of modular.

Thanks a lot for your tutorials. You can explain very well what you do and how it works. I'm waiting for more tutorials :)

Thank you. It's always a balancing act between including too much and too little information. Good to hear that I didn't loose my balance 😉

Great tutorial! I love the sound of the final patch and I learned a lot. The Fence/PPM combo is solid, I'll be using that for sure.

When I created the voice with the intention of using it in a tutorial, I was surprised by the end result myself. I created it during my lunch break at work, and ended up listening to it for the rest of the day :-)

Thank you very much for sharing this video. As I am a beginner with VCV Rack, I am still learning and this tutorial is very useful to me. Phrase-Seq-16 seems like a very interesting module. May I suggest a tutorial about this module in a future video.

@not-things Жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful. The Phrase-Seq-16 does indeed contain some very nice features for creating chord or melody sequences. I must say however that for a number of my own patches, I ended up using Foundry (also by Impromptu) since it contains most of what Phrase-Seq-16 can do, but can have up to 32 steps and run 4 separate sequences, each with their own clock triggers.

thanks a lot. interesting patch and modules, very well explained. sidenote: instead of instruo's 1f i used nysthi's scale and offset which i find more flexible.

Thank you! I must admit that the Instruo 1f normally isn't my go-to module for doing a simple voltage attenuation, but there was a specific requirement that it met: I always like to have my patches end up in a rectangular shape (while keeping a logical module layout). And in this one, I ended with a layout that worked if I used a module that was only 2HP wide. And the 1f was the first module I ran into that could do the job. It also doesn't hurt that I like the way the Instruo modules look 😉

I am using impromptu clocked with oscillator to make Atmos but my clock button is not working whenever I trigger clock the oscillator is still triggering sound
@not-things
@not-things 11 ай бұрын
Not sure I understand the question, which oscillator and what are you trying to achieve? If it's about the Basal oscillators that keep playing if you stop the Clocked from running, that would indeed be expected in this patch setup since Basal is not connected to the clock. Some additional modules and patching would be needed to close down the volume of the Basal module based on the run state of Clocked if that is the intention.

is there something I can use instead of auxspander mindmeld
@not-things
@not-things 8 ай бұрын
Since the AuxSpander is designed to work together with the MixMaster (affecting specific channels on the MixMaster), it will not be possible to replace just the AuxxSpander module without influencing the resulting sound to some extent. You could send the main output of the MixMaster directly into Plateau to get the reverb effect, but then you loose the option to have different levels of reverb on the different channels. You could also use 3 separate Plateau instances and send each of the inputs of the MixMaster through their own Plateau first (getting different reverb levels that way). There may also be different mixers available for VCV that offer similar send effects functionality as teh MixMaster and AuxSpander combination, but since the MixMaster and AuxSpander modules offer the functionality I usually need (and more) and are free, I never looked any further for alternatives.

excellent tutorial spoiled only by the arp turned way too high that made it really difficult to hear you clearly (from around the 4-minute mark) - like trying to have a conversation at a party 😅

Thanks for the feedback! There is sidechain compression applied to the VCV Rack audio while I’m speaking, but it’s always a balancing act. The voice needs to be clear, but the VCV audio should also remain audible enough to highlight changes as settings are adjusted. This tutorial might indeed have benefitted from a little more compression on the VCV output. Creating these tutorials has definitely included a steep learning curve for me 😉

@@not-things thanks for the response - it's one of the best and most lucid tuts i've seen about this subject - would it be possible to put the voice on one channel and the synth on the other so that we could pan it at home? i'll definitely give it another go, but trying to decipher your (Dutch/Belgian?) accent at the same time was giving me a headache so i had to stop about 10 minutes in, sorry :)

I not find dikt@t, what module i can put?
@not-things
@not-things 8 ай бұрын
It's written as 'diktat' in the VCV Library (and is part of the Bidoo plugin set). You can find the module at library.vcvrack.com/Bidoo/DIKTAT and the full plugin set at library.vcvrack.com/Bidoo

I actually find your music better than Omri Cohen, you are evolving fast....have you ever played a instrument as you are doing so well
@not-things
@not-things Жыл бұрын
Thank you. In the end, it all comes down to what suits your musical taste more. Omri has some very nice sounding Eurorack patches on his music-only channel however 🙂 I have played a couple of instruments over the years. And although they weren't in the electronic music area, that did result in some knowledge of musical theory that comes in handy for my VCV patches

Thank you for your feedback. I’ll try to improve the balance between mic distance and volume in future recordings. It’s a lower output mic, but I’ll do my best to adjust accordingly.
Wait for the last one 🤣🤣 #shorts #minecraft
