I am not a D&D expert (ha obviously), but feel free to talk to me about it if you’re a player! 😄

I started critical role from campaign 1. On the 3rd campaign now. There's some characters/references in campaign 2 from campaign 1 you'll notice if you watched campaign 1 first. Which is pretty great. Matt's a genius. Good luck with campaign 1 if you decide to watch it. Great video btw. Thanks for posting. Hope you are well. Take care

Sounds like I am in a very similar place as you when it comes to DnD! I am also a beginner who would love to play, but I am also without a friend group to play with 😅 Lovely video!

I first played D&D my freshman year of HS. Back then (and perhaps to some extent still) it was considered a nerdy thing to do. I thought it was great as it fired up my creativity and imagination. The first time I saw D&D represented on TV or film was in Spielberg's E.T. and a made for TV movie called Mazes and Monsters, which starred a young Tom Hanks! Mazes and Monsters was terrible and kind of portrayed the game in a negative light. Back then, in the States, the game was controversial. Parents were saying the game was Satanic and there were ridiculous claims that playing the game could cause psychological issues 🙄 Gary Gygax (who with a friend) created D&D and is a name much more people should know. So many role playing video games are based on the D&D system of characters, attributes, leveling up, weapon damage...etc. Even combat in many role playing video games use a D&D system "under the hood" to determine if you hit an enemy and how much damage you do.
