Playing with Firmware Updates on Pioneer AVH-X2700BS - How To

Answering a couple of questions concerning about how to do a firmware update on the Pioneer AVH-X2700BS.

is it possible to change the operating system to an android os ? you mentioned breaking it simply by screwing up the firmware update somehow. I wonder if there would be hardware limitations that wouldn't allow it to run.

I have the same head unit (Pioneer AVH X2700BS) and whenever i play videos and i get a phone call through Bluetooth, the unit would freeze but the audio for the video would still play. Anyone got that same problem?

mine keep saying make sure only one file is on the flash drive. am I suppose to leave the file in a zipped folder? I extracted it

Same issue hear. I actually delete an extra data file then after a failure to install I plug it back into my laptop and the file is back

I need help, I done the instructions in the manual for the firmware update but it appears that I can't update because it black out or grey out. I can't press on Firmware Update section, any ideas?

I have the 3700bhs and recently it been going in and out and sometimes take forever to power up. Will this update solve my problem?

+Jamal Johnson it is possible doing a firmware update will overwrite some bad file that maybe causing it to not perform correctly. Just make sure that your current firmware version is older that than the new firmware version.

+Jamal Johnson How long did it take for them to fix it and get it back to you? Ive installed a second unit to replace the first one in my wifes vehicle only to have the exact same problems. This time she was thinking about sending it in but I was worried about their customer service. These radios are junk and Pioneer should be ashamed of themselves! Never again Pioneer!

+Jamal Johnson Apparently this was a big issue on the 2700. Myself and others have had the same thing with it taking forever to power up, or not powering up at all. I'm considering going with this years 2800......but I'm very hesitant to buy another Pioneer.

I'm almost totally sure that app radio is ONLY compatible with iphones. like the 4 4s 5 5s. as far as I've been looking I'd seen no support for android which is pretty stupid but whatever that's the loss you take when buying pioneer. I could however stream music from my android to my HU (AVH X1600DVD) with little to no problems.

hook it up by blue tooth and you van play music and anwser calls from dash. i have the same phone

I installed a Google ChromeCast to it, now I can do what ever I want on my phone and stream maps, youtube, Netflix, and a ton of other things to my AVH x1600. Best decision I've made so far.

I don't know why but a lot of the sections from my settings screen are grayed out, to include my bluetooth menu page and the update firmware button. I can't access any settings for my bluetooth. could you help me out please?

+Dan Martin yes lol.. I'm so dumb.. you have to have your "E-brake" actuated. turn on the car, leave it in park and activate the e brake. done.

I got excited for a second because my brake wasn't set.... But that didn't work either. Thanks anyway

+Dan Martin you're probably going to have to make sure (i believe it's the yellow wire) the "brake" wire or the "safety" wire is connected from the inside of you center console.

yeah.... I've got to buy the bypass. Your comment helped me to remember that wire wasn't connected though. Thanks man
