Wait long enough and you have a solid chance of Playmobil picking up all your favourite, neglected licenses. Articulation can´t replace heart and that is what they deliver.

Imagination picks up what articulation leaves off. Playmobil sets are simply fun and offer many hours of imaginative play. I like the fact that despite articulations their figures can always use the vehicles and accessories. Horses have riders, so do their dragons, et. al. Articulated figures can't even get that right.

To help qwell your fears on the rubber parts, I was a kid who had a small amount of Playmobil and all the rubber parts despite living in a loft that gets incredibly hot and incredibly cold, all of the rubber parts are as soft as the day I got them and incredibly durable. The same in Mexico. And actually lego was completely unknow here at that time. There was a block toys line called tente with smaller pieces that lego pretty simillar but no figures at all. You can build some small structures like ships and so.The first time I heard and seen from lego I was like dissapointed. The blocks are bigger than the tente´s and I was wondering why was so popular with big quotes. And still I like more the playmobil figures than the lego´s but it´s nice to se some buildings and popular structures of it.

I never saw Back to the Future, but I’ll probably collect the series. We’ve never had a rubber hose rot, and we have some really old sets. Lego faces can rub off, but Playmobil faces never rub off because they’re made from multiple layers of plastic. Of course my favorite character is Janine! 🤗

Just like you Micheal, I would’ve loved this Playmobil Ghostbusters the movie toyline as a child. My mother also took me and my sister to the movies growing up but because of the subject matter or the fact that my father knew Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd’s humor from SNL, he decided to just take me to go see Ghostbusters. We both were blown away by how fantastic the movie was. I remember that I would constantly look for Ghostbusters toys whenever I went to the toy store. It was a huge bummer! If we had those Playmobil toys growing up I definitely agree that it would’ve altered the course of 80s toy history. I’m just so happy that we finally have an amazing toy line that perfectly represents the 1984 Ghostbusters movie. It’s always better late than never!

The whole playobil Ghostbusters line made for a great 2019 Christmas for my four and five year old boys! You are right, playmobil hit a homerun with the nostalgia and I loved building everything in the months before Christmas one set at a time (it saved me from having to build everything on Christmas day which would have turned Christmas into a work day, not a family day) Every detail is fun and perfect with the exception of slimed Peter...as for that glass jug, I think that is the jug Vinz/ Louis was drinking the water from when he smiled at Egon and Janine.

Not much of an exaggeration! There are many so-called PROFESSIONALS in the toy and movie industry that don't seem as knowledgeable and insightful as Michael is! I even think Michael should have been some kind of an attorney! 😄 Because, like the examples he brought out, the people that always SWEAR that they had a certain toy, or saw a certain movie scene, etc.....conveniently NEVER have any proof to back up their claims! Whereas Michael does so much deep research, and has so much raw evidence that shuts them down, they should be embarrassed about their very lives! Hahahahaha

As soon as I saw their Ghostbusters line, I had to buy them all, second movie and Real Ghostbusters as well, the figures for Ghostbusters 2 and the real Ghostbusters are great and accurate as well. I also have the Back to the future line and I hope they do something like Goonies, the A-Team or Knight Rider next. Imagine K.I.T.T and K.A.R.R in this quality! Even as a kid I never cared for Playmobil, largely because of the figures size and expressions, I always enjoyed the larger figures such as The Real Ghostbusters, TMNT and the even larger Thundercats. Just like you I remember the first time I saw the movie as a kid, and the unforgettable impression it made on me, I am a proud 80’s kid who’s now an adult passionate about nostalgia and the things that made me happy as a boy. This Firehouse and the Ecto-1 are my first ever Playmobil toys, and I not only had a great time assembling them, but I can appreciate the beautiful quality and attention to detail the folks at Playmobil put into this, both pieces are in display in a special place (minus the figures), and I couldn’t love them more, I think they really are an amazing addition to any Ghostbusters fan out there. Too bad I don’t have any kids of my own to play with. I really enjoyed your video and your enthusiasm about the subject, all the very best!

I had a Brio train set and Playmobil toys as a child. They were my pre-action figure toys from age 3 or 4, right before Star Wars and Masters of the Universe took over my interests. Both Brio and Playmobil were really play-centric and allowed for fond memories I still have nearly 40 years later. I am really impressed with their newer offerings and I am just so happy to see actual toys from these properties that real kids might actually play with. Marvel Legends and Star Wars black series figures just aren't for kids, in my opinion, and seeing my favorite franchises live on with another generation actually being able to play with the toys is absolutely awesome.

I created a basement level for the firehouse that has the Ecto Containment Unit and a lab for Egon using different play sets and pieces I bought either in stores or online. For the first level, I recreated Venkman's office using various rail pieces I found and a table and chairs. Janine's desk goes right in front and the Ecto-1 where it should be. Using a kitchen set, a school food stand set and a living room set, I decorated the second and third levels to give it a more home-y feel. Of course for the holidays I have a decorated Christmas tree and gifts I bought from Michael's and set up with string lights that weave in and out of the windows. I bought a second, incomplete Firehouse set to expand into and kept it up for a bit before deciding to leave it for my GB2 figures. I bought 4 Santa figures JUST for their hats to recreate the Christmas sequence in the second film.

Great Video. I kept seeing people post things about growing up with Ghostbusters toys too, but there wasn't anything - I remember the week it came out, even the cassette was hard to find. I remember calling the record store at the mall, hoping they would have the thing in stock. It's the first cassette I can recall that was in a red case. I recall bootlegged T-Shirts being sold, because there simply wasn't enough stuff to go around. We had the Different Strokes Episode that aired.. I think I found a button of the ghost symbol at the mall. I bought the Ghostbusters vehicle based on this review. I had purchased the Delorean, hope to see a review on those toys soon. Thanks! Keep up the good work.

Playmobil was big in the U.K when I was a kid. I have a fire truck from that time. And a friend of mine had the cavalry fort. Years later I visited the Playmobil factory in Malta.

I am in love with these toys!!! Thank you so much for this in-depth and wonderful review!!! If I could afford it and had the space I would want the entire collection, I bet it would be awesome to play with these toys with the Transformers Ectotron, another recent toy I've drooled over. I had Playmobil toys as a kid, though I never asked for them but we're given to me as gifts. This line has ALWAYS been big on intricate detail with their toys. I had the Playmobil pirate ship, my mom put it together and it was such a beautiful toy. The canvas sails, the rigging the figures could climb and hold on to, the crows nest, flags, cannons that were on wheels so you could move them to different placement points on the ship, cannon balls with crates to hold them, the bridge deck with the steering wheel and the captain's cabin beneath which could be accessed by a working door or you could just take off the bridge deck which was the cabin's roof. The ship had a hold which was accessed by a large grated door on the main deck that swung up. The hold was pretty much the entire inside of the ship. There was a solid silver plated metal bar placed in it, I suppose for balance and weight, and that had weight! Maybe a few pounds. It was wide as a ruler and almost as long. The figures were pirate themed, eye patches, peg legs, swords, flintlock pistols, and of course treasure with gold inside and also loose gold coins (which I pretty much lost all of in less than a day). I'd be playing with the Killer Whale or USS Flag and imagine it had taken on damage in a battle then along comes this pirate ship that the joes would commandeer to go after Cobra. Didn't really matter if the joes were a bit too big scale-wise. The other Playmobil toy I had was the flying saucer spaceship, I'm happy to say that I actually still have this toy, if not any of the figures and many accessories are missing. The toy still looks great. With 3 retractable landing gear stands, on two sides were doors that open and become ramps with steps and the entrances even had airlocks. Sleeping areas, pilot consoles, a center command stand on a swivel. Semi translucent blue tinted plastic windows all around and over the entire thing a domed top also blue tinted and semi translucent plastic, with a large antenna array in the center. The top was easily removed for complete access to the inside but snapped.back on nice and secure. So I never asked for these toys but they sure gave me hours and hours and hours of great play, fun, and memories.

I loved playing with my Real Ghostbusters toys. I made it work, but I still remember frustration at the very shortcomings Michael brings up in the video. But like the pier 34 dock supervisor said, "Well, better late than never."

Nice ghostbuster memories... My most memorable ghostbuster moment was me impersonating the whole Ray Parker jr. Ghostbusters videoclip, dancing and 'being scared out' by ghosts while listening to the song on my cassette deck. I waned myself alone in my room, but at the end of the song my brother appeared sneaking from behind the door... laughing, saying it looked rediculous.

I loved my Ecto-1 as a kid, I remember buying it from Toys R Us with my birthday money. You were able to fit all four Ghostbusters into it if you angled them right and if you were careful, could also fit the proton packs although, it was a bit messy and involved some fearless bending of the proton streams. I too was somewhat disappointed by the dimensions of the firestation. I always wondered if you could cannibalise two sets to make one large playset, alaso adding furniture from other toy lines. The Simpsons sofa and TV set worked well in there. You are right, these sets would've been perfect as a kid, I do remember there being a time period between when the show aired and when the toy line hit the shelves, at least in the UK and as a kid, that took forever. I had to make do with some wooden brick toys and a heck of a lot of imagination!

Looking back, I see that Playmobil would have caught my attention much better if they had done licensing. The sets I always saw was things like the cavalry for or the pirate ship. Little Me considered them toys for younger kids. Now? The quality shines through to my older eyes.

I noticed the Delorean in B&N last week with my wife and commented on how strange it was that they got the license so many years later. I didn't know they also did Ghostbusters. If they did some other licenses with as much care, I might even consider getting some. That Slimer Hot Dog Stand would be a great Halloween decoration. That Ecto-1 is damned near a masterpiece.
