This years Devils was not a coaching issue.. No Dougie Hamilton since November, losing Graves & Severson to free agency, and ranked 30th on 5v5 save%. Hughes & Meier were out 41 combined games but still ranked 9th on goals per game. Their goaltending was terrible and defense was bare bones. The axe had to fall on someone and he just happened to be the easy way out for a GM who didn’t maintain his roster.
