Now that my kids are older, they need a proper place to do their homework! I put them to work and we transformed our playroom into a "kid office" (as they like to call it). It's super functional and now there's no spaghetti sauce on their homework. :) Instagram! / madewitmeg

I listen to music, for reading I would go with some piano or jazz, something simple. For math homework you can really listen to anything you want! Don't do this if you get distracted easily,so else you'll never get homework done.

We have two kids in a 2 br nyc apt! Since my son is in high school, he has his own room. Sort of. He sleeps there, has all of his clothes and does his considerable homework there since he needs to be able to shut the door and focus. He is way smarter than I am. My daughter who is 10 years younger, has all of her toys and books in his room and is allowed to go in there and access it and play whenever she wants to. She sleeps in her own bed which is located in our br. She has a small toddler sized activity table that she has already outgrown, it sits in our dining living room area,. She has outgrown it but it still works and I don't know how to transition her to a larger workspace. My husband doesn't even have a desk in this apt. lol.

When I was that age I went to a gifted school where I didn't have to do homework. The idea was just that we were still gonna absorb it without needing piles of homework every night. Ngl, it makes me a little sad to imagine studying at that age, but also good habits start early and I think having a designated study space for kids is really healthy. They say it's not good to study in your bed or anything like that, I think compartmentalizing that kind of thing is really awesome if you have the space.

It's funny to see the differences between the countries. The video is like "how to upgrade your playroom" and I'm like "what is a playroom?" 😅 In my country playroom is more of a whim, the fancy thing that only rich people have. I remember seeing it once at my friend's friend house and it was super weird to me at that time. Now I think that playroom is a great thing to have for your kids. The special place where you can watch them play and they can make a mess. As a kid I played a lot in my bedroom which was pretty inconvenient cause I couldn't focus on my studies cause there was a lot of things around me and the space was always cluttered and messy whenever I decided to play.

Tip: if you have a big living room, and really want a play room, push the couches up a few feet, make it behind the couch! That’s what my family did and my little sister is always in her “play room”!

Nice! You should just homeschool. You are a great mom already and you have the perfect set up. You'll have more time with your kids AND by law, your children can still be enrolled in public school sports activities and any other interscholastic activities

I'm 13 and ever since i was 6 I have a giant desc in my bedroom with a pinboard on the wall for schedules and reminders. Great alternative if you don't have a spare room!
