RIP John. You made my kids day and gave me a good reason to sit down and watch Play School with them.

He was always my favourite presenter. But now that I'm in my twenties, I can see why my mum laughed so much when John was on. He was a legend
@rylestar2 жыл бұрын
I posted this video about 11 years ago. The fact that I recorded it on VCR in the first place in the early 90s during my teens (when my little sister used to watch playschool and I'd laugh at John), and then kept the video for years, and then recorded it to a DVD, then uploaded it to KZbin, then it has been viewed over 99,000 times... goes some way to show how much people enjoyed John's time on Playschool. Best presenter ever. RIP John.

Haha, in my teens I would still watch John episodes if I caught Playschool on the TV, and I didn't have any younger siblings. He was just SO funny. Thank you for the video and follow up comment. x

He was so good….. as a parent he gave me so many laughs as you never knew what would come out of his mouth. I remember watching him one day and Benita collins got so cranky with him on air. It was hilarious. 💕🌺

My husband and I watched John with our children for many years. We loved his wicked sense of humour…’Jill…my partner’ in his Jack and Jill skit. He will always be in our memories.

I think part of his purpose was to provide some measure of entertainment to the adults who had to inevitably watch it with their kids. Some of his ultra-subtle jokes were low-key innuendous, way over children's heads. But they were still there.

@TheBundychick8211 жыл бұрын
I know 47 years of play school that's a long time would that mean that it started in 1966 wow it's older than Sesame Street and its longest running Kids show or one of the longest I think it would be the second longest running behind 4 corners its been on for like 50 years not bad for 2 shows that are on the abc and still going strong

Who knew? .....like, everybody in Aus.... for the last 50+ years!!! - John was great. He was from the UK originally, and had even done some Shakespeare, but the fun that group had on Playschool was truly memorable!
@melbop4 жыл бұрын
@@barcalonga I grew up in the UK. Thought play school was a UK exclusive thing .... Or I would have thought that back in the 70s you would have got the UK version. Thought never occurred to me that you Guys would have your own Play school with your own actors.... Play school was killed off in the 80s ... in the UK So it is still going? wow! Nice to get a reply on a comment from 7 years ago :-)
