Just a big update for everyone. OPL now has a modded version by grimdoomer that uses internal expat support. This means simply that drives over 2tb internally are now supported. What's more, you can simply drag and drop your roms into the DVD or CD file on the drive. No more third party software injecting games anymore! I have a 8TB internal drive working well now. Yes, read about that also. Plus files can be copied directly without 3rd party software. It's a great time for PS2 emulation!

No doubt, I love the drag and drop style, no more game injections or FTP nonsense. This for sure is a big improvement to the game. Once I sell a kidney, I will invest in a 20TB drive and add the full PS1 and PS2 game library. 😉 You have a wonderful day my friend! Grand gaming!!!

how did opl boot so fast? I have same exact setup with updated opl and it boots fat slower .. did you edit the video? haha

this is also i have done...all of my games are in my USB External HDD though i have 3 separate HDD's as sometimes its hard to Defrag..it really takes a very long time to defrag the games...and sometimes the HDD gets faulty even CFG at CHT gets corrupted even VMC gets corrupted...so i have setup every countermeasures for everything...im using the latest OPL now that supports the zso files... by the way sir is your PS2 a slim or FAT?...because Beyond Good and Evil and Cartoon Network Racing still doesnt work for me... Broken Sword even boots only to a specific version of OPL...anyways nice video sir!!! 👌👌👌👏👏👏

To prevent fragmented files format the HDD in ExFat because latest OPL support ExFat and have cache and can run fragmented games, also to deffrag the HDD you should let some free space over 2gb

Playing games via USB is not ideal, if you have the option on your PS2 model I would recommend going for an internal hard drive.

@@astartesretrogaming in PS2 slims the best way is to play through ethernet cable with SMB from a router or PC/Laptop

@@astartesretrogaming its ok...all of my games plays inside the usb external hdd runs fine on my slim PS2... Time Splitters 2 and 3 runs fast and smooth then Colin Mcrae (PAL) and WRC 4 (PAL), Evolved (PAL) runs also smooth... except for Tomb Raider Underworld...

Yeah this is obviously not the entire PS2 library, not even a 1G1R collection. That would require a much bigger hard drive unfortunately. This is just a personal collection of favorite games. 🙂

The OPL menu? It's called Open PS2 Loader running from memory with Free McBoot.

Which part exactly? the entire thing took a while, to be honest. I would say that the hardest part was gathering and deciding which roms to use.
