MUST READ!!! The charger has to have an output of 5V and between 550 mA to 1. 5 A (1000 mA = 1 A) If the output is below 550 mA it will charge the controller very slowly and you propably wont be able to charge it and play at the same time. If the output is above 1.5 A it will work but will also damage your device over time. 1.5 A is a very good number that will charge your controller quickly so you will be able to play and charge it at the same time. I've got one of those multi-adapter things you plug into the wall with the 6-sockets and 2-usb charging ports. You can use it, but it only works when you turn the controller on, initially. Once you turn it on, it'll charge. For anyone trying this.

Lithium batteries do NOT need to be drawn to dead, recharged, and drawn dead again. This is bad advice... it's a myth from the days of NiMH rechargable batteries that had a memory effect. Li-Ion batteries do not have any memory effects. However, all LI-Ion batteries are best in the first ~500 full charges or so... after that the battery's performance will steadily degrade. Same thing happens to your cell phone's battery, which is why after 2-3 years they only hold a charge for a few hours instead of a few days. Fun fact: a 'fully drawn' or dead Li-Ion battery will never hold a charge ever again. Circuitry in the controller (actually, virtually all Li-Ion charging circuits) actively prevents the battery from ever getting to dead on it's own from normal use.

Li-ion batteries doesn't work that way. You can get the best out of a Li-Ion battery by NEVER EVER LETTING IT FULLY DISCHARGE and ideally charge it up to 70-80%. So basically let it drain to 30% and then charge it up to 70%. That has to do with conductive crystals forming inside the battery that grow out of each + and - node when charging a fully discharged battery. When they meet together, the battery starts draining faster because the + and - make contact.

from experience using a samsung note 4 charger after a few months of using it my led stopped working completely and over heats when charging and i know it was the chargers fault because it ruined 2 controllers... i purchased a ps4 gold charging cable 2 new controllers and 2 2000mah batterys havent had a issue in several months and there is tons of info on google look it up wasnt only me it happened to and everyone who had problems it was exact same led permanently stopped working and started over heating when charged

ok everyone you now can buy wall chargers for controllers on ebay! people ask all the time how can I tell when the controller is fully charged... well when you see the light go out on controller it's charged. when you see the light flashing slowly when first plugged in its charging. it was funny when reading all comments here of people saying thanks for destroying my controller because it's not supported with wall charging...lol people was using fast chargers...! the Sony Playstation controllers are very well supported buy a 5 mha chargers all usb are 5 mha

Tried a charger with an output of ( 5.0V @ 1.0A ). Did not work. No charging mode light Then tried to charge it on a different charger with an output of ( 5.0V @ 1.2A ) and the charging mode light started working. I think it's safe to say that the minimum required power output for charging PS4 controller is 5.0V @ 1.2A. I don't care to time how long it will take to fully charge from an empty battery... So lets say about 2 to 2.5 hours if its left turned off. The PS4 USB sockets take about 2 hours. Hope this helps people (^_^)

my buddy has a new ps4 and he can't get his controller to charge. when you plug it in, the orange bar stays on for like a second then fades out. when i plugged into my computer it did the same thing and even when the light was off my computer said it was still connected. its a brand new controller, though so i doubt anything is worn out inside and i already check the pins. theyre all good.

So uh- my controller wasn’t charging for shit. So I experimented and turns out it only charges when pressure is put on the back (when the charger is being pushed back) so I grabbed a fuckin hair tie to keep it in place so it could charge and it didn’t work- so then I grabbed a Bobby pin to push it back and it worked.. LOL

Scrotie Wantubsis I would stick with 5v that's what the USB on the Playstation puts out, the controller has a safety kick out when charged so can't be over charged. and you can go bigger battery as well

Yes if your control needs 800 mA and you have a charger higher than 800 mA your control will only take what it needs. The problem is you have to check your adaptors and see the output if the output is 5v-.8(800 though might take longer), 1000, 2000 your good. If you have a charger thats from a new model phone and it says 5v-1000/ 9v-2000 or any other numbers but the volt and mA DON'T USE IT! It means the charger is a fast charger. Its what allows an almost dead phone to be at 100% in 30 minutes and will fry your battery if you have anything lower than 800 mA as the output it'll take longer to charge
