I am very confused. I record tons of ps5 games from my ps5 uploaded to my youtube channel. I can hear my voice loud and clear. Not sure what you are doing but not true you can hear your voice play back. You can turn up the volume in your microphone in ps5 also but it is crystal clear. You said you couldn't hear your play back and two you are holding a xbox controller why? Oh I skipped through parts. haha. Man the headset isn't optimized for xbox it is optimized for ps5 so of course you will have some issues. Listen on a ps5 and you will be good.

If the game doesn’t support 3D audio (PS4 games), then does the headset support virtual surround sound like the previous gold headset. Also this headset doesn’t have a switch to turn 7.1 on/off like the gold does. So how does that work for switching?

I found really no difference between PS4 gold gen 2 and the ps5 headset. Yes Ps5 has a few updates that I do like but if you still have your PS4 gold headset use them until further ps5 updates. The gold headset got updated when the party chat was change a few months back

You didn’t notice much of a difference as the only 2 ps5 games that support Sony new tempest audio is Demon souls and Spider-Man MM. you can hear wind shooting past you when slinging though out the city you can hear car below you or enemy’s talking on what direction they are and Demon souls in the start area you can hear the wind flapping on the dragon wings above you or hear when he breathes fire. God of war have a fully fledged ps5 patch 2 days ago so not sure if that’s had any update for the 3D tempest audio or a game like days gone has had in in the patch 2 days ago and the nioh 1 nioh2 ps5 collection will be out on Friday by smart if that has been updated to tempest audio. The headphone won’t work in pc or Xbox as it doesn’t have Sony 3D tempest audio technology built in.

To me it seems logical that a headset that is made for the PS4/5 and PSVR i don't really get why so many of you youtube reviewers are seemingly surprised that it doesn't fully work on the XBox. This is a headset directly from Sony for the playstation. If it was labelled as being compatible with the Xbox then a test on the Xbox would make a lot more sense and then it should be expected to be working, but that is obviously not the case.

There are ONLY 2 speakers in this set of headphones. One for each ear. Not a true surround sound headset... which would require at least 4 drivers.

They come with a usb-c cable they don't come with the charging brick you charge it by plugging it into the PlayStation

Mine does that on PS4 also. Try plugging the included cables in instead of bluetooth.
