This reminds me how they said, at the beginning of the generation, that the Dualshock 4 controller would not be compatible with PS5 games, because those were specifically designed for the Dualsense. And yet, you can disable all the new features of the Dualsense (basically turning it into a Dualshock 4) and the games still work. Not only that, but you can use the actual Dualshock 4 on PS5 games when you play them on PC using the Remote Play application. It's pretty clear that Sony just wants you to buy new controllers. They're masters of bullshiting their custormes, so when they say that they disable features of the PSVR2 because they would only work on the PS5, yeah I'm calling bullshit on that.

@@LyraniaLothar Microsoft set the controller standard for PC 17 years ago, back in 2007. This is why all developers used Xbox as the standard for all their games ever since. In Windows 10/11 settings you can even remap Xbox controllers (Overrides games), upgrade firmware etc. without the need of a Xbox console. Xbox 360, Xbox One and Series X controllers don't need a driver on PC. Windows have internal support for them, and also console add-ons like Kinect, Musical instruments for games etc.

But microsoft literally had to make a dedicated team for porting and even then a lot of games where not ported. The xbox one does not support xbox 360 games. The only reason they work is because they where ported. microsoft did not "open up" backwards comparability, Microsoft literally made a team for porting Sure it would be great if sony set up a team for porting. 3 things: 1-AFAIK they didn’t even announce any existing exclusive VR titles for PC release. 2-One has to assume that they will keep the same release policy for PSVR2 as they do for PS5. PS5 first, PC 1-2 years later. 3-Their cadence for VR titles (exclusive or not) has been abysmal to the point that releasing half assed PC support sounds like more of a way for them to dump inventory.

I like the PS5 UI but the control scheme of the media player gives me fits. It doubles as my 4K Blu-ray player and I own a lot of disc-based movies, and I keep finding myself fumbling with the controller to pause the movie or rewind if i need to. And this may just be a problem with the app itself but Tubi on PS5 pauses the movie i’m watching if my controller turns off, so I have to sit there and intentionally drain my controller battery while watching a movie. Rant over

@@daRealB-Rex Why not get the PS5 media remote? I have one and it's decent. Only thing that I didn't like about the remote is that it's not possible to re-program the buttons that I hardly use. Would be great if someone can release a hack that would allow us to reprogram the buttons. Also I wish the remote has an HDMI switcher button that would allow me to use switch the HDMI port for my TV so I don't have to rely on two different remote controllers. Not sure why Tubi pause the movie that you're watching when the controller turns off. You may want to update your app to see if it solves the problem or report the problem to the developer team that created the app.

herman hukst has stated that the point of bring playstation games to pc is to coax pc gamers into the playstation ecosystem. hence why they are still not doing day and date for their single player games, only live service games. it's also why they are forcing the psn requirement. their hope is that you'll get attached to the trophies and maybe so folks you meet in multiplayer via psn and it'll make you want to get the console. frankly it's a dumb idea. a pc gamer would rather take the money they would have spent on a console and upgrade their existing rig with a faster cpu or gpu.

I have a PS5 and a Xbox series X and just went and STILL went out and bought a gaming PC last month, BECAUSE consoles are more expensive after the buy in and that whole closed ecosystem and the console wars was just old. The crap Sony has been pulling is just weird. It's like after Microsoft bought ABK and took the marketing for COD from them they have been lost.

it's because of Sony being like this that Quest 3 is beating PSVR2 on sales. for every 1 PSVR2 sold, 30 Quest 3 are sold, PSVR2 doesn't stand a chance.

I use to be console then a touch of PC around '99, '00 with Age of Empires, Stronghold, and Sims. Then my friend sold me a gaming PC 2005 and showed me a lot more games on PC like Counter Strike, I was both PC and Console, until 2017 when MEA 😑 came out, my friend and I was playing it on Xbox in April and the optimization was horrible he went "I can't take this anymore". for the final time and We've been on PC ever since. I never renewed my Live sub and in the last few years have had more fun playing Indie and AA games like Grounded and Enshrouded as an example. The only recent AAA game I enjoyed (old by now) , if you can call it AAA was Far Cry 5, I personally enjoyed that game.

The funny thing is that in comparison tests with other HMDs, the Vavle Index still performs better than the PSVR2. So it basically loses to an HMD that's from 2019.😂 but the fact that a 2023 HMD still uses Fresnel lenses and apparently ones that are even worse than those of the Vive Pro 2, which in turn were already worse than those of the Index, would be a KO for the PSVR2 for me.

It’s like the Apple Vision Pro. A great piece of hardware limited by Apples closed ecosystem. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how good the hardware is if the company that controls the hardware doesn’t let you use it to its fullest.

As someone who has a lot of time in VR. Do NOT buy psvr2 for your pc unless you already have it for a ps5. Its not worth it. Unless sony gives all features or modders unlock them for us. There is so many better options out there for PCVR.

I never understood why Sony bothers with PSVR (1 or 2) because just like they are completely screwing up the transition to PC with PSVR2, they did almost the same thing with the PSVR1. There was almost NO good first party IP, the only thing even remotely worth trying was Skyrim. (and they *tried to say Fallout 4 was going to come to PSVR1, but there was no way. just getting FO4VR to run on PCVR was a nightmare at best. Sony has NEVER fully been behind VR. They just hoped it was enough of a Gimmick to push sales. And they are doing the same thing all over again.

The no HDR thing is not a big deal. In theory the HMD could still put out the same number of NITS overall, we're just missing the HDR contrast, which on OLED might not even be noticeable to most people. In fact it might look better with less black crushing. No haptics -- I feel like this could be remedied. Didnt Ratchet and Clank bring over PS5 level haptics to the PS5 controller on PC? Feel like that could happen here too. No eye tracking hurts. Given how substantial the frame rate improvement could be, I feel like this will eventually be implemented one way or another for certain PC games like MSFS, but it would probably take months or even years. It could be possible some other company releases a box that enables these features if it is a hardware problem. Time will tell. All is not lost!
