It's $300 more than the base model PS5 digital. Since the PS5 Pro is All Digital that is a comparable console not the PS5 with the disc drive and stand. If you want to compare it that way then you have to include the $80 disk drive and the $30 stand which would make it $110 more for a total price of $810 before taxes in the US only.

Look where we are now - VR2 got no support, remasters are new 1st party games, 6 exclusive games so far, accessories like dick drive and stand are being sold for premium, PSN is locked to country of origin till end of the world and not available worldwide don’t forget prices for condoles have gone up. didn't cover my issues with the PS brand, namely getting rid of Sony Japan studios over time, going less physical, targetting gamers who are more focused on spec sheets than gameplay. Honestly I would rather just buy a Switch 2 where the games are going to be. I don't care about spec sheets. As long as the game is controllable and you can play it I don't see a problem even if its wireframe graphics. And this is the problem with PS5 and any other top end console, you are forced to make games to use the power. When in reality, you don't need the games to look like that to sell. Unless you want to talk spec sheets. Sony should just make a tower PC and put a PS6 logo on it and sells games that way from now on. PS5 pro is not a game console, its a brag box that is so powerful its more useless than useful. Its like building a massive truck that is too big to drive on the roads, but bragging its the BEST, the BIGGEST, the FASTEST.. but you can't drive it anywhere.

Something people don’t seem to realize about the PS3 is they tried the same strategy as the PS2 in selling below market rate Blu Ray player. In 2006 Blu Rays were well over $1000 and despite the $600 price tag, Sony was losing money on individual consoles sold against cost of production. In a vacuum the $600 price was way too high but given the PS2 also was bundled as a DVD player below the typical market rate for DVD players, it again made sense. The problem was Blu Ray was still very new and HD TVs weren’t very common meaning blu ray enhances weren’t as drastically noticeable With the Ps5 Pro this is just stupid greed. I honestly think part of the reveal was to make up loses from Concord

The OG PS3 had 4 USB ports & a big memory I remember the release as it was at midnight & there where 24 hour supermarkets selling them they didn’t sell well & Sony released a PS3 with a smaller memory & 2 USB ports & they sold well the OG one was £460

You are right about the 4 USB ports but wrong about the memory, all models of PS3 always have had: 512 MB memory (256 MB XDR RAM for CPU and 256 MB GDDR3 for GPU). The storage (HDD) have been of different sizes (20GB, 40GB, 60GB, etc.) but the first models were the ones with the smaller capacity HDDs, the later models have 500 GB HDD (but in all PS3 users can easily replace the HDD).

Great video and observation. As much as I enjoyed PS1-3; it became clear to me that the soul and spirit of gaming that I grew to love; was diminshing with them as the generations continued. Truth be told; both Sony and Microsoft are not gaming companies; nor did they ever understand gaming; they simply copied what gaming companies did and threw money at it. They are both multi billion dollar tech and media companies that saw they could make serious money in the gamining market and decided to bring their bussiness mindset to it. Sony was burned by Nintendo after their negitions to create the Super Nintendo CD failed; after Nintendo wished to part ways with them, due to Sony asking for too much of the money and Market share for doing so. Sony out of spite and in an attempt to salvage what they worked on; descided to create the Playstation, which on the surface was a litteral copy of everything that Nintendo had standardized in gaming; right down to the controller design; but with MORE buttons and Power. Sony leveraged their brand recognition and money from their other bussiness endeavors; to convince other 3rd parties to develop for them. Sony just threw money at everything in the hopes to beat Nintendo and for a long time it worked. Many of the Playstation 1 top franchise games that were previously on Nintendo consoles; were predominantly on Playstation for a few gens. However, in copying Nintendo; they then started to simply copy their own success with Playsation in a cut and paste manner; without taking the time to understand the creative process of gaming; only adding more power to each generation. To Sony and even Microsoft; gaming is simply doing the same thing each gen; but with more power. They also let their bussiness greed, create many of the shady practices we are expreincing today; such as micro transacitosn, subcirpiton serrvices and streaming (taking away ownership of games more and more). Yes, Nintendo utilized nickle and dime tactics at times; but Sony and Microsoft were big time leeching, deceiving and utilizing "Whale" hunting tactics to squeeze consumers without them realizing it until it was too late.

The PS3 was there big mistake. The 360 was $300 cheaper and was available a full year before the only reason Sony is back on top because Xbox fucked up with the Xbox one and basically gave the console war to Sony…. And now Sony is giving us the PS3 treatment again with a $700 PS5 pro with no disc drive and not even a vertical stand and it’s a mid generation upgrade it’s not worth $700 for a PS5 because it’s been out for nearly 5 years at this point…. Sony will fall and they’ll be out of the console market if they keep this up

Can download cds onto it, has a browser, has several memory card slots, Blueray player, built-in wifi(was rare at the time), and can download video files onto it. Has 4 usb slots. It could do everything. No other console has had that many features. It was ahead of its time, just like the PSP.

Not only is the fire alarm beeping as everyone has pointed out but the gain on your voice audio is waaaaay too high. You can hear it clipping and distorting at all the peaks. Your commentary is good and worth listening to but the audio experience here is very rough. I know learning about audio mixing is not the most fun thing to do but it’s essential for speech-heavy content like this and a worthy time investment in general.

Considering that Sony did nothing to solve the supply problems with the PS5 i believe it was all intentional. It took me two years to secure a PS5. And i did it thru a scalper who charged me 700 bucks for the base model.

It happens to almost every console manufacturer at some point. Nintendo got cocky after the SNES and the N64 got snuck by the Playstation. The PS3 was covered in the video, the Xbox One is because Xbox's leadership got cocky and wanted to dictate to the consumers what they were supposed to want instead of continuing along the incredibly successful 360 path. That left the PS4 in a vastly superior position and now Sony has gotten cocky again. Nintendo learned their lesson and is just playing their position conservatively.

The IPhone is also a multifaceted device. Used for Buisness, Education, Hobby’s and day to day. @@JaymesForte my iPhone to ps5 pro connection was purely down to price and annual release and that kids want the latest tech. Also, that monthly subscription for iPhone sure adds up over twelve months, right? Also the price difference between base ps5 and pro is not great, $200~300, that’s not a lot and then it comes with double the storage plus the controller. Also, no not fanboying, just observing. This is nonsense. If you think the PS5 Pro is too expensive, don't buy it. Nobody needs it. If people want it they can buy it. The regular PS5 is good enough for most gamers. If you take the graphics out of the PS5 and put in the new graphics it will increase the price around $200. Like if you could take a graphics card out and buy a new, better card. Maybe that's how consoles should be now. A replaceable graphics card. The PS5 Pro just has a better graphics card in it.

On some level I think you’re right. It’s an unnecessary luxury product and its existence obligates nobody to buy it. That said, I think the lack of a disc drive in such an expensive device alone shows out of touch Sony is with enthusiasts. Casual gaming consumers might not demand physical media as much but this isn’t a device for the casual market. It’s a dedicated enthusiast device. Its target market clearly and LOUDLY prefer a physical option. This device telegraphs Sony’s intention to phase physical out and trap consumers in their digital ecosystem. It’s proof that they see digital-only consoles as the future. It’s just a bad sign of things to come. A replaceable graphics card, while a good idea in principle, wouldn’t fix that. Not to mention the fact that you can get a decent and far more versatile PC for only slightly more money.
