maybe want to see if liquid metal possibly contacting smd capacitor on apu under the foam creating a short to ground....? but then i would expect nearer 0.0 ohms on the milliohm meter if this were the case so maybe not...

System software issues may also cause the PS4 Slim to beep three times. This may be due to a corrupt software update or system file that needs to be repaired or reinstalled

I bought a few broken PlayStations from a kid cheap. I figured I could maybe get 1 running. Nope. Not at my level of experience. These units seem to end up software bricked from possible power outages or spikes or maybe from interuptions during software or firmware updates? I don't know? I figured there's got to be a way to get around a brick but I haven't stumbled across the fix.

So, here are my 3 pence ;). 1. Yes, TheCod3r is a good guy to start learning from about PS5, I'm even a paid subscriber on his YT channel and buy at his shop parts from time to time. That's where I've started to learn about them and Xboxes. 2. There are different to not say better YT channels like ToltecMerc, but as well worth knowing SteveBe. I'd say that Toltec is a MUST if you'd like to understand PS5s ;). 3. If you have 3 beeps, I'd say that there's a short on the maiboard somewhere. I'd not focus on those tests as you did. I'd use my bench power supply on 12V and hook it up to this board. PS5 when you supply voltage, on that moment should jump to around 300mA and go down almost straight away. So, that's the test I'd like to see it here in a first place. 4. Once you'll know if will take anything at the start, or permanently, you'll know what to do next. If permanently, something is shorting, but not on the main power rail, but on those small power rails and that's why the power supply is not shorted. 5. Those low resistances are common. I'd not focus on them, waste of time. 6. On our inte.team website you've got a BLOG section and you can look there for some readings in PS5s. If you'd like, I've got several open here and can even make you more of them. 7. As per an HDMI port, there are cheap testers which you plug in to the port and have 20 test points on the outside for the meter. Really cheap and really good for testing, the 20th point on PS5 is the ground, and then the rest up to the 19th on the right. If the zener diode is shorted close to the HDMI port, you'll have a similar behaviour to your one. They are available in Mouser, and I can send you a few as I bought I think 100 of them :D - just whatsapp me ;). 8. If you want, I can guide you with the diagnose of this board? Thanks for the info, I have a couple other jobs to complete at the moment then I will try the current draw test. it's possible there is a shorted rail somewhere as I only tested the ones I could see (buck converter/inductors)

Anytime here know why after flashing my biOS my disk drive won't accept a disk? It did at first, and copied disk, then decided it didn't want to anymore.. I'm very confused

Three beeps on power to the board before pressing any buttons, indicates a problem with the southbridge nor data. In most cases the nor data is corrupted. I would read the data from the nor and for testing write nor data from another same model PS5 or swap the nor ic and test if it comes on.

Do you have power cord plugged in to check voltages ⚡️ or does it show voltages with out having the power cord plugged in?

This three beeps on power on usually means that BIOS is corrupted, try to flash a new one, make a back-up copy of this one

Obviously need the Winbond bios chip a reprogramming. Or you could try the boot to safe mode with a plugged in controller. Then pull out connectors and blow on them...cheers.

I watch the cod3r amongst many other repair videos, including your excellent channel. The cod3r is very knowledgeable regarding the PS5 and a very good solder er.

Nice try, Richard :) these things are notoriously hard to fix , ask the cod3r XD . my guess is update failure (Winbond firmware corruption) or something similar. probably in some kind of sleep mode like macs and other laptops do when the SIO doesn't wake up

hi why are they still making them like juck still i have a amd 4 keeping it running very low so the south ic don't get the bad solder thing i just think any are money pit last computer amd3+ last for 12 years it kind still working
