It's weird to me that companies still haven't figured out that you can oversaturate single player markets with little long term harm, but not online ones. Single player games rely only on 1 person to play and enjoy or hate. When you're dealing with multiple people though, you're going to just amass impressionable people to hate it because of the fact that it likely won't stand out on its own. I did want to make a side mention about POE2 having cross-progression. I imagine this was Sony having no choice but the give in to the devs' demands. POE2 will likely be a standalone success on PC that the devs have practically zero need for Sony to accept or not. That type of leverage is precisely what anyone needs to push big companies into finally listening.

Not to mention that singleplayer games could aim for shorter livespans so way more can be overlapping without it actually becoming saturation leading to way more people finding the time to play. The second problem is that companies have a hard on for being able to slap "over 700 hours of padded content" as a tagline on anything.

They don't care, one single successfull live service game would recoup the cost of several failures. They see the workforce as expendable, so can always handle the cost of failure as an overall business. At the end of the day, big publishers like Sony and others are in video games to make money, not to create meaningful and fun experiences. If it ends that the end product is fun and also successful it's more of good bonus than a necessity for a business (talking for live service here, in single player game you do need a minimul level of quality to selll copies)

Overwatch is failing and so companies think now is the time to swoop in and take over the hero shooter market. But Overwatch isn't just failing because Acti-Blizz fucked up*, people also just get tired of the same game over and over. "Our game is Overwatch But Different" isn't a selling point because most people who would be into Overwatch already played it. *But the way they fucked up probably doesn't help. Pretending-to-have-interesting-characters-and-a-plot is the vibe this sort of game gives off now. No one believes anything will come of it, so what exactly is the appeal?

@@jessecox Something interesting I noticed about SH2... You can get SH2 remake looking WAAAYYYYY better then the trailer if you have a good PC!!! The trailer says "captured on PS5" If you check the Steam page for SH2 remake they give specs for the game: The specs for the minimum setting ask for basically a PS5, they want a GPU at the level of a AMD RX 5700, that card is basically a PS5's in GPU form. That is suppose to get you "Low/Medium quality graphic settings, 1080p, in stable 30 FPS" that's what the PS5 will likely hit.

For Silent Hill having "48 hour early access" is wrong. That's the day it comes out. If you don't pay the premium price, you get it on peasant release day, which is 2 days after the people who spent extra got it. It's all about PR.

NGL Astrobot was the highlight for me. I never even played the other pack in game, but Astrobot looks like a genuine-ass, video game-ass, video game. Among all the cinematic experience games, the AAA try hard cringe games, and cash grab games, I just want a silly, fun experience.

Konami seems to be doing what Square do and pretends the only thing that matters is the next one and even the ones they have announced don't exist until the next game is out. Previous Silent Hill trailer looked off, this looks better. But is it just me or it kept stuttering in gameplay sections. Also there was a texture pop-in when James was opening the door to room with the radio. I hope they can fix these issues before release.

Unironically, until they showed Astro Bot, I was the most excited for Infinity Nikki. That game looks so cute and fun. And as someone who doesn't like how the Silent Hill 2 remake looks, I was super disappointed that the Transmission was mostly just that. I was really hoping for any more information on Silent Hill f (mostly because of Ryukishi07).

I wish they'd go back to the Dynasty Warriors 5 formula, I didn't like the gameplay changes they made moving forward I don't mind them adding in more stuff to do like open world stuff but we are really there to look cool and cut down thousands of units. Although I hope they focus on Empire mode, take some elements from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy games

Yeah. I was fully enjoying the Concord trailer, and then the guy said '5v5 hero shooter', and I said to myself, "god dammit, I'm out." Jesse and I are running on the same wavelength on this game. I left overwatch back before the "sequel" because they kept nerfing my mains and the off characters I moved to. I haven't looked at another hero shooter since, and probably won't going forward because the genre is so fucking tired. Fully stoked for the Astrobot game, though.
